No new bike....yet

It's got a nick on the rear fairing, and it needs tires ASAP (ordered some Battlax BT-023s), and bar-ends. I already ordered adjustable levers, reflective rim strips, and the honda/cbr/600RR decals to put on there.

It has blue LEDs on the front under the nose and the rear; there were some on each side at the bottom of the fairings, but I ripped them off, probably gonna take off the other ones as soon as I have time to take off the fairings.

Definitely looks good with the exception of it being lowered. Hope everything works out.

Yeah I asked him if he had the stock links or whatever, I think he said he didn't, I will have to remember to double check.

Yeah it looks that way, going to check it out wednesday. Fortunately the blue LEDs toggle on/off.

Well, probably not. If I did, I'd add some black (plastidip probably, lol) to break up all that yellow.

However! I found a 2006 CBR 600rr with 17k mi that I'm going to also look at...he said he'd take $4200 for it. It's got the carbon yoshi, pc5, etc (he doesn't have the stock parts though....) I know i'd eventually want to change the stock exhaust on the yellow one & obviously need a powercommander or something, so I'm debating on which I should lean towards. If the exhaust, pc5, 3 years newer, and black justify $700 versus the 10 year old bike with 9k miles, which is yellow.

Don't be racist jono!
just kidding :P

I'm leaning towards the black one, but they're about equal in my opinion as far as pluses/minuses. Therefore, I'm going to go look at them both Wednesday (which coincidentally is also my birthday), talk to the owners and see who seems like a better person and if both bikes are as they say, then go from there. I bet I can get the black one at $4000 when he has a stack of $100s in his hands.

Even though 10 years is a long time 7 isn't that far behind. Seeing as its only done 9k miles, unless you plan to stick onto it for a while it wouldn't be worth it.
Still, who knows maybe you might find another bike with an even better deal.

Good luck

You are saying the extra $700 for the '06 model wouldn't be worth it, or not being worth it to get the older bike? By the way, I do plan on holding onto this upcoming bike for a long time, unless I have to get rid of it when I go into the Air Force.

Honda did make quite a few changes to the CBR 600rr bikes starting in 2005, particularly a lighter, aluminum frame, and adjusted engine with better mid-range. So, there are more difference aside from just age.

Yeah, forgot about the inverted forks, and something about dual radial front brakes. I honestly have no idea what advantage inverted forks offer, or the difference in the brakes.

Just read up on inverted forks, sounded to be more noticeable for track use.

I was referring to the yellow one as not being worth unless for the long run. but on the plus side the money you save on the yellow one could be invested back into it with the mods of your choice,... just saying.

Lol, that seems to be the consensus, and I prefer black.

The guy just emailed me more pics...it's got a pretty good sized crack on the front fairing near the windscreen/mirror. And it's got a +3 rear sprocket and probably -1 front...which I'd need to swap out since I won't be doing wheelies or need the extra take off power...and I guess I'd have to get a new chain too.

Lol, so now I'm leaning towards the yellow one that's basically stock.

One man's treasure is another man's junk... erm well that didn't sound quite right lol

Well, get the canary and paint it black, look out for after market parts that can suit you're requirements. Figure out the total cost and ten decide which would be a better buy.

oh the possibilities....

Yepp pretty much. They keep everything in oil so there's less frothing, but you're likely not going to see any advantage on the street from that because it takes some hard riding to notice that.

The difference in the brakes is the 06 has radial mounted front brakes. Kawasaki was the 1st to add them to the 600 class in 03. Suzuki did it in 04 and Yamaha and Honda in 05. The same goes for inverted forks on all bikes mentioned.

I would pick the 03 CBR and actually like the yellow. I almost bought the exact bike but ended up buying a new silver 03 VFR800 instead.

Here it is...considering naming it "Bumblebee"

It's got a nick on the rear fairing, and it needs tires ASAP (ordered some Battlax BT-023s), and bar-ends. I already ordered adjustable levers, reflective rim strips, and the honda/cbr/600RR decals to put on there.

It has blue LEDs on the front under the nose and the rear; there were some on each side at the bottom of the fairings, but I ripped them off, probably gonna take off the other ones as soon as I have time to take off the fairings.

You should get all the silver parts painted matte black as well so that the bike is pure black and yellow machine... I think you could also swap the mirrors with that of a 250 or something that looks sharp and clean, seems like the 250's would fit... just suggestions

btw forgot to ask, how do you feel about the engine? It might have lost some power over the years, you should have that checked out unless you've already done so.

It's still a beast. With 9,000 miles...it wasn't ridden much, and not very hard.

I'll definitely have to look into some other mirrors, these are UGLY and basically just suck.

I ordered some black decals with a silver outline on some of them, and reflective silver and reflective yellow wheel strips, I'll see if I can plastidip over the silver & the Honda decal, because I don't want to have to remove it if I don't have to.

Looking good Sean!! Gratz on the new ride!! 9000 miles and mostly stock except the cosmetic stuff.

Be sure to give it a really thorough once-over, then go have some fun once you get new tires. CBR's are really fantastic all-around bikes.

Are you going to ditch the nasty blue HID's?

Yes, I already ripped 2 off of the bottom. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to remove the fairings and rip the other 2 off

I'm trying to figure out where that right bar-end went...lol
Quite the mystery, as it shouldn't have just slipped off.
