Yamaha bLU cRU R3 Cup

Kind of interesting (Motorcyclist online article here):
Quote:
Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., is pleased to announce a new marketing partnership with WERA Motorcycle Roadracing. As part of the agreement, Yamaha YZF-R3 Expert & Novice road racers will have the opportunity to compete in a WERA Premier Yamaha bLU cRU R3 Cup Race, exclusively for Yamaha YZF-R3 riders, at the prestigious WERA Grand National Finals--which will be held on October 20-23 at Barber Motorsports Park--and battle for championship prizes.
But the Expert class first prize seems weird to me - * 1st place/R3 Cup Champion - Yamaha R3. You need an R3 to compete...and you win another R3?

:\ yea, one for street use

Actually, that type of prize makes perfect sense to me. For example, buy r3 and rape it's resale value by passing tech and the general act of racing it. Win.... get a fresh new one to replace your lost value (lol as if ). Seems legit to me.

I could care less what the prizes were, just digging the small bike racing support. Good stuff.

I mean if I could race my 300 in it, I'd love to win an R3

To be fair, if I had a zx3 I feel I would need to do multiple mods to be happy with the bike. With the R3 I think besides a rear shock, the only mods I would do to it would be more for the fun of modding and not to be happy with the bike.

The R3 needs more mods to be competitive racing than the 300

granted if you're really going for it you'll end up doing the same mods to both, though with a different flavor

stock to stock the ninja handles way better than the r3 but the r3 blasts it on power. I prefer handling to power so I'd take the ninja. Built vs Built the extra power of the r3 shines

Giving up 25cc is a big hill to climb, let alone 79cc if you on a 250.

I actually really don't like the fact that the r3 has such large displacement. I'd rather have a I4 250 that would rev to the moon and back.

I wonder if you have to own the r3 or if you can rent one. I know a guy that rents racebikes lol

The way it's written, you just have to be on an R3 when you win. Shouldn't matter whose name is on the title.
