short trip in -2 degrees C

Went on a short trip today, in minus 2 degrees C. Saw another rider on what was probably an FZR 1000 from late eighties.
Normally, one could not ride a motorcycle here ( 63°28′30″N 011°10′15″E ) at this time of the year, but climate seems to change..

Yes, Anchorage is at about the same latitude, but slightly south.
An important reason that the weather is not tougher here is due to the gulf stream heating up Norway and other parts of Scandinavia.
Today the sun was up a few minutes after 9 AM, and went down around 3:05 pm, making the sun stay up for about 6 hours.
The picture was taken around 2:45, I think.

I don't see many riding all year around, but some, especially commuters in, and around, Oslo. They drive for example Honda Transalps equipped with tires with metal studs, due to occasionally icy and slippery roads.
There is an annual gathering called "primustreffet", where the bikes and drivers often have to deal with the snow;

2 degrees C is about 28 degrees F.
The latitude is similar to somewhere between Fairbanks and Anchorage, but it seldom gets below -15 F during winter.

Riders down here will go through the entire winter, which normally bottoms out at ~20F (-6 C), so -2 C isn't toooo bad.

Heated gear, grips, bar muffs, and LAYERS do the trick

I was looking at those TransAlps, nice looking bikes. Wish Americans had gotten behind them and they were still over here. Sadly, the only ones around are 20 odd years old.

Sounds a touch colder than my home here in Southern California. My mom's family however is from your part of the world. A mix of Finn, Swedish and Norwegian. Probably why I dont mind cold so much. I found a 37F degree morning to be only slightly chilly with nothing more than my riding jacket, leather gloves normal boots, and Dickies pants (think somewhat canvas like, I know, I know, I NEED riding pants) Granted my one bit of exposed skin on my neck between my helmet and jacket got a little nippy... I should consider a scarf.

I guess it's much warmer in Southern California, yes! Maybe your genes
make you better suited for cold weather, who knows..?
I have relatives in USA and Australia, myself. Unfortunately we don't have
any connection with the relatives in USA, since my family lost those.
Almost half of the norwegian population emigrated to the US, during the late
eighteenth century. Hope you have some link to your relatives over "here".

I have read about some great roads for motorcycling, in California. Hope to go there some day..
I once went by car from Orlando (FL) to Key West and back. That was really nice, as well!
Here in Norway, one of the more known roads (that i have not been to myself) is the "Atlantic Road". A video from a windy day may be seen here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckb90ka2dwE .
Not the nicest conditions, but "interesting", maybe..

Yeah no thanks...... Any colder than about 50F is too cold for me to ride for fun, but I will do my 5 mile commute down to about 25F as long as it's not raining or snowing or ice on the roads.

80 is my favorite riding temp.
