Pilot jet

A few days ago I drilled-out the EPA plugs on my pilot jets on my "new" 2007. Today I was curious as to what the genius' at Keihin set the screws at. Are you ready; left carb ZERO turns out from seat, right carb 1 1/2 turns. And they don't want US to be messing with the pilot jets? The bike ran 10 years and 10k miles like that.

It could worse. Back in the 70s a brilliant woman by the name of Joan Claybrook headed-up the DOT. This woman was dripping with college degrees. She wanted to put seat belts on motorcycles.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Did you set them both to 2.5 turns out?

Probably need to adjust the hot idle then as well.

It's not uncommon to find the pilot screws set differently, sometimes way off.

Be sure you assembly them correctly with the spring, O-ring, and washer.

I'd advise you replace the consumables, O-rings, float valves, fuel bowl O-rings, as this will make sure that there are hopefully not leaks, problems, etc.. From reusing parts that, should be replaced for safety reasons and reliably.

PM @ducatiman for any and all you carburetor needs, his prices are very affordable and his service is second to none.

Thanks for the tips. I have only had the float bowls off to install new main jets. Today was the first day the pilot screws were touched since they left the factory. I will, however, remember to replace the consumables when I do have to rebuild the carbs. Or maybe I'll remind Ducatiman if he will rebuild them for me.

Red face Read this the other day....

It explains why the stock airbox has different settings for the mixture screws.
