250R front stand issues, what do you use?

I have a S-Spec front stand and it won't support the forks.
Almost as if the forks are too narrow (it just slides off the stand on the way up).

The Put Bull stand looks similar to the S-Spec stand. So what front stand do you guys use on your 2008+ Ninjas?

I use a pit bull triple tree stand. It has a pin that goes in between the forks into a hole in the tree.

I use the Pitbull front stands that lift from the forks--doesn't fit perfectly, a little wobbly, but it does the job. Personally, I think the better ones are the ones that you insert the stand from the bottom forks. So much easier.

if im not mistaken, when you buy the stand, it comes with different inserts so all you need to do is put on the fitting insert for your bike onto the stand, then use it

What AJ said. They are all the same, the pin is the only difference; that you specify when you order.

And you remove your front wheel on this stand?

The way it kept falling off the S-Spec stand, I would be le'scared to remove my front on a similar pit-bull.

Yeah, I have the front fall a couple times but forks never touched the ground because I'd have a stack of bottle water underneath the headers just for this case. LOL

Couple different sets for a couple different bikes.

The ones that are visible look like BT-002's and Pilot Road 2's; this pic is a few years old. I tend to use the 003's and the PR3's at this point on the other machines.

I use a T-Rex triple-tree stand. Have to do a little finagling to get it past the front tire fender (or just take it off) because the clearance is a bit tight, but once the pin's in the pivot, it's solid. It also came with fork holders, haven't tried them as yet.

Here's my answer for lifting both wheels simultaneously:

Heindl Pivot Stand

When the bike is on the stand the front lifts up easily. I use a strap from a ceiling joist to keep it up.

You can't change the rear with just the front lifted if that's what you're asking.

Was able to get the front up with the Pit Bull fork stand yesterday. Seems ya just gotta be careful and lift it slowely.
Seems to be holding pretty good. I did the old shake test, we'll seef if it's still upright when I get home today. Methinks a front tire change would be doable. Pitbull is def. a little more stable than the S-Spec.

No, it wouldn't be my first choice for the paddock.

Although it might be more useful than "normal" stands for some specific things. Depends on how much space you have in your trailer, etc.

Probably. Almost certainly and there's return policy if it doesn't.

I saw a video of some guy who had to use a screwdriver wedged in between the stand and the forks I think and he had to mess around with some spring on the stand itself...I don't think it was this exact stand but I just don't like buying things that don't fit correctly right out of the box

I think I might swing by and pick one up just in case I ever need it.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I want to buy a front stand, but only if it is stable enough to take the tire off, and can lift the bike without any issues like crunching / scraping the plastic.

That does seem like it would be intrinsically more secure. Can you or anyone else recommend a specific make and model that works with our bike?

RacebikeRental (Richard) uses the Lockhart Phillips...the one I pic'd. When I saw him use the stand I was like WTHeck! That's awesome! No fuss trying to balance your front end. Just slip the nipple under the forks and lift.

I believe he had to slightly bend it inward.

I gotta get me one but waiting to find a deal.

Puts a bit of pressure on the front fairing but no damage.
could proabably slide a few washers over the triple tree pin to lift the bike higher on the front stand to prevent the contact but it's really a non issue.

I was curious, would using the front lift stand be okay for the front for a tire change? Whats the chance of damaging the forks from twisting or bending with the tire out?

While I have used the Harbor Freight stand with front fork adapters to remove my front wheel several times, I've found that it often gets in the way of axel insertion and removal and has very nearly dropped it on the forks a couple times. BE CAREFUL.

It was really cheap so I'll still probably buy another.

My Lockhart-Phillips head/triple-tree stand seems to be bending where the bar that fits the pin attaches to the curved bar over the fender. I don't have a proper pin to know for sure if the contact under my headlight's black plastic fairing shroud is due to the bend/sag or not having a long enough pin (I flipped an original but skinny pin upside-down, so it is at least as long as some).

I will be posting pics when I can get them. Is this the kinda thing I can have fixed cheaply at some kind of metal-working shop?
