How many of you have had bikes stolen?

I haven't yet, but I do remember on one occasion about a year ago a kid(looked no older than 15) was sitting on my bike in the apartment parking lot(sliding-glass doors from my bedroom let me see my bike when I'm in) trying to chat up a girl and acting hard.
I went out and asked him if it was his bike. He said "yes," and I told him "I think your keys somehow wound up in my pocket," pulled them out, and started the bike. He got off and ran away. That's when I decided to spring for the $85/mo garage extra. Anyone else have a story?

I was taken then, and I don't go for under-18s. Surely, though, someone's got a story about (attempted) theft of their bikes.

I was probably 6 or 7 years old when my older brother had his bike stolen in Newnan, GA. He spotted it on someone's front porch and took it back.

Come to San Diego! Excelent weather without world-record crime statistics (it's a city so it's not "great" statistically of course).

Well, except he wasn't Southern... They lived all over the country before I was born. He had just returned to live with us from staying with my grandma in the Virgin Islands and he joined the Navy shortly after that. After leaving the Navy he eventually settled in WV, which was a union state (borderline south, considering VA) but it's still rural as anywhere, so I guess now he's a hillbilly by choice.

Also, I'm sure he confronted them afterwords. Me, on the other hand, I was raised there. Born in '80, left in '08, return in '?? (inevitable). I guess our mother settled down after my twin brother and I were born.

2 bikes so far, hopefully the last time it happens. 1st was my 08 cpb 250r, and the second was my R6S. Different locations but the lesson here is keep her inside, even with an alarm system thieves don't care.

I keep glancing at the title and seeing, "How many bikes have you stolen?"

Maybe I'm tired.

I got my bicycle stolen in 1996 , it was brand new 3 weeks old, my dad had bought it for me, I locked it up against the light post to go to one of those traveling amusement parks, went in for 15 minutes came back and the bike was gone, they had cut the lock in front of 100's of people and no one saw ****.

Last year thieves broke into my garage, stole my 500$ air compressor. I saw the thief walk out in the driveway with it on a buggy. Jumped out of my bed shirtless grabbed my stainless baseball bat and ran out towards the car, before i got there they sped away, so I jumped in my car, but i couldn't find em.

Ever since then I bought a 16 Channel DVR system with 1TB, going to set it up this spring with outdoor cameras and a motion detector PIR. It will be recording 24/7. The bike will also be chained to a 30 MM metal loop embedded in concrete. Ugh, what more can I do... sigh

Had a snowmobile stolen from my front yard while it was chained to a tree with a for sale sign on it. It saved me the trouble of selling it. Whoever did it was really quiet cause they didnt wake up my doberman.
