Front brake pads/rotor scraping
I can hear it scrape every time the front wheel goes around. Could this be a something I can fix by adjusting, or is my rotor bent, or could it be possible my brake pads are burnt out? Thanks
edit: looks like I'll have to take a video, I'll reply once I've got one Last futzed with by WAGESLAVEesc; June 4th, 2014 at 09:33 PM. |

Scraping isn't good; you need to find out what's causing it. What do the pads look like?

could be that one of your pistons are not releasing.

Does it scrape with or without brakes being applied? Also, how long do you hear the scrape..like does it scrape the whole time it's spinning or at a certain frequency?

Probably just the pads rubbing on the rotor from the caliper being sticky and needing to be cleaned so the pistons slide back in after you release the brake lever.

Yeah, like these guys are saying...
Is it a "scrape"? Or just a "rub"? A little rub as the wheel spins can be OK, but a scrape is not. If you or a buddy has a dial indicator and mounting setup, you could check runout on the disk. |

My rear brake was doing the same thing. I replaced the pads and it all went away. I'm guessing that when I pushed the piston back while changing the pad it freed it up. Good luck.
