Cool report. I've yet to go motocamping but that will probably be on the list of adventures this year.
I have gone car camping off in the boonies. One of the funny ones was when i was with some friends at a hot spring. As night fell and we settled into our tents, we heard crunching sounds on the decomposing granite around us. Then all of a sudden iiii-ahhh!!!! We had these guys hanging out by the springs!

nice write up! I went motorcycle camping once , but I was camping at a race track and ended up crashing on somones couch with my sleeping bag under the stars(the couch got picked from the leftovers of a yard sale on their drive to the track)
I like your tent? what kind is it? I recently found one online that is a compact two person It is called the tarantula and its under 100$ they also have an even lighter version with aluminum poles and different material base called the scorpion dual doors and covered entry ways for storing your pack I need to put together a travel camping setup! If you want to meet up and camp later this summer let me know!

I used a dry bag to hang my food and toiletries in a tree and I had a small handgun, but I wasn't too worried about it.

We used to combine that with diving and fishing 3-day expeditions. Why is not the KLR in your list of motorcycles? Is it a 250 or a 650? How much do you deflate your tires for gravel? For being so true, I love this part: "After I got camp set up and things settled down that mountaintop became a lonely place. Sitting up there alone in nature and looking out over those mountains was a great time to clear my head. I know I have mentioned the meditative qualities of helmet time before. It was like that, but even quieter. Camping solo presented an unexpected opportunity to meditate, pray, and really get refreshed mentally and spiritually."

You mean scuba diving? You hauled that much gear on your bikes?

Nice! That's sounds like a ton of fun. I've done a lot of scuba diving, but never gone spear fishing.
