You don't HAVE TO change the o rings, as long s they're in good shape. But there is no reason to not change them. I always did.

This. As long as my new filter comes with O-rings, I might as well change them

Smile oil change

I changed my oil in my 07 ninja 250

I put 1.8 liters from both quarts of oil I let it run for about 5 mins, but the oil showed it filled up the little glass should I be worried

like I said I only put 1.8 litters of oil.. and the bike holds 1.9

don't want to blow any gaskets

I don't mind if I have to drain it

Make sure you have let the bike sit for a few minutes after warming up and make sure you check the oil level when the bike is upright and not on the kickstand.

If you changed the oil filter and put 1.8L of oil back in, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

The large O-ring that comes with the Fram filters is always deformed and will not lay nicely in the groove as it should. Takes a bit of grease to stick keep it in place as you tighten the bolt. The O-rings that come with the K&N filters seem to be better quality.

That said, I have never had any that leak.

always fill based on the sight glass, not measuring the oil.

always turn the bike on and let it warm up. This allows the filter to absorb what it will, flow into spaces, bearings, etc.

check the sight glass after the oil has cooled and the bike is upright, not on a stand. Add if you need to. drain if you need to, you don't want to be above the max fill line.
