New 250R Owner... AGAIN!

I bought a Kawasaki Ninja 250R back in 2008 when they introduced the all new model. I had been out of the sportbike market since my college years (about 1992), lucked out, and was able to get a brand new 250R.

I loved that Ninja 250R. It was inexpensive and fun to ride. I rode it for 4 months, sold it, and didn't lose one penny on it. I wanted a bigger (faster) bike so I bought a Triumph Daytona 675.

The Daytona was a real treat as well. It had an Arrow exhaust and speed shifter. That thing would scream. It was very touchy, great for the track, and the fasting revving bike I've ever seen. I rode that bike for a year. But , eventually, I wanted more.

Next was the 2010 Yamaha R1 Limitd Edition. I remember thinking "holy sh*#" did I just spend $15K on a crotch rocket? It had a full GYTR exhaust, PC, and BMC filter. Talk about overkill. That thing was a missile with handlebars. I couldn't ride that bike to within 75% of its true potential. And dang that thing ran hot- the crossplane crankshaft in that motor made it uncomfortably hot to ride- almost unbearable in the summer. Oh yeah, the insurance... $$$$$.

Now here we are in July 2011. I just bought my 2011 Ninja 250R 'Special Edition' in green/black. This bike is more fun to ride and makes me smile more than any of my previous bikes. Now I am taking it somewhat easy on her for the break-in but, man- what fun.

Just kiddin.. the color isn't that bad, but is the reason I did not get one. (and no I didn't really like the all black option either)

How do you like your 650? Is it just recreational for you or commuting? I was thinking that if I did ever get another bike it would probably have to be the 650, because it just seems to be a good mix between practicality and sporty looks.
