Whats the strongest wind you've ridden your 250r in?
I got caught in a rainstorm last night with a 25-30 mph crosswind and was wondering what I would've done if they were stronger (today is 45 mph winds). Just curious if anyone has ridden in significantly stronger winds.

I've been caught out in storm force winds (55-60mph), horizontal rain is not fun, neither is unintentionally changing lanes on the motorway.
Stay light on the bars, point diaganolly into the wind if it's that strong that it's causing you to drift off course and hope that you dont get a freak gust that puts you in oncoming traffic |

Around 45mph winds for me. Not really a huge deal straight line but a real pain in the *ss in the 10 miles of corners that I have to take to get home.

got caught in some 40 mph gusts.
luckily it was in a straight portion of the freeway. i just kept pointing the bike slightly against the wind the entire time. |

I've taken corners leaned over in the opposite direction before. Just stay low and light on the bars and you'll be fine.

Been in 1 approaching storm w/ gust of 60+... I was being as light as I could on the bars and basically going straight while at a 15* lean to the right (frakin scary!!, I was so afraid wind would stop and I would instantly turn right or fall).
1 gust blew me into next lane, which had a semi rig in it!! Luckily I had about 10ft in front of him, but still nailed the gas to get even more (and go back in my lane) :0 I was riding in left hand side of my lane, so it didn't blow me too far over, but enough to scare me for awhile. Needless to say I don't ride in high (35+) winds anymore! |

Its bad down there too? I drove my daughter to school today and the traffic lights were parallel with the ground. I thought, theres no way I'm riding today.

No idea how strong the winds were, but I was on Hwy 101 through Gaviota where it's all hills to the right, ocean to the left, and in the blink of an eye I went from the right shoulder to the left (2 lanes). Scared the crap out of me, I had been riding only 2 weeks. lol

I hate gusts the most, since you don't know when they're going to hit and when they're going to stop.

Funny you should ask. Wind has been crazy here too. Gusts were up to 95Kph, went outside, checked to see what my bike would hit if it got blown off it's stand, made some adjustments to the potential 'landing pad' and scurried back inside.
I love riding in wind but strong gusts like that? Nooo thank you! Still learning to ride in strong consistent wind, once I'm totally comfy with that, I'll tackle some giant gusty winds on a back street somewhere. I've had to ride almost sideways on a straight away where the wind was screaming across two farmer's fields. That was really cool, bike was leaned, I was upright, bike was going straight as an arrow. Got caught in that weird hail a couple days ago though. Sun was shining, hailstones bouncing off my helmet and pedestrians wishing they had a helmet |

strongest wind?
That would be a 115mph head wind. Come to think of it, the is wind nearly always a head wind.

270° turn on a motorway on-ramp in 45mph wind was not fun either. Storm force gusts were un-rideable but I was on the motorway & had nowhere to pull over to until I was less than a mile from home. It's really down to a few things like; is it raining, do you have to get home on the bike, how many miles have you done in bad conditions, how awake are you. After that it's a judgement call. I ride in all weather conditions except snow, which is rare enough where I live (a few days to 2 weeks a year) |

couple of good gusts last night, one that pushed me into the oncoming lane (thankfully it was late and the road was deserted). gotta remember to keep it over farther in wind like that. since I'm not a mobile weather station it's hard to tell what the speed of the wind was, but the weather reported 60-90km/h gusts so i'll just assume it was in that range.

Been hit with a few 60mph gusts, and several 40mph constant winds after that. I was riding through a very heavy storm...thank god I was wearing my rain suit.

Worst I've done is 25mph crosswinds. This was in the Hill Country, on my way up to Kerrville.
What was notable was that I was following a BMW sport-tourer and a Harley ElectraGlide. They were having just as much trouble keeping a straight line as I was, which makes for a very convincing argument against a heavier/more powerful bike being more stable against wind.
