I think Iím going to be doing the two bottle method for carb sync lol the rubber stopper is a tad too big will have to shave it down a bit, I have plenty of oil so that will have to do however itís a bit thicker being that itís out in the storage.

Probably wonít get to it until Wednesday however.

I made my carb Sync tool from PVC pipe and just made 2 small containers for the oil in line to each carb just to catch the oil (just in case) those connect to a long loop to each other with the Auto transmition oil in it.... all hooked to a board about 5' long.... I hang that from the ceiling attach a line from the containers at the top to each carb's intake port and read the results on the oil level line down on the board.... it's extremally sensitive ... I used it on my XS650 yamaha and it worked great... haven't tried it on the Triumph or Ninja yet though.....
it's a simple, effective method to adjust and balance the carbs that will not allow the oil to be sucked into the engine. (as it will catch it in either container)
....
I think I posted a few pictures of it here but not sure... I know I did on the XS650.org forum.......that was about 5 years ago.
....
it really smoothes out an engine to have those carbs synced!

So how many have the Shinko SR741 how’s the feel? I assume what’s I’ve been hearing it’s a good all around tire?

I was playing the old videos before I did the valve adjustments and changed the plugs man the bike sounds so much better now as far as the cadence of the motor I expect even better when the carbs are synced and carbs cleaned.

Running into a slight issue.. finally got the clutch cable on but I can’t seem to get the clutch to disengage even when pulling it has zero effect.

Lol never mind what I just said lol maybe I should just lower the rear wheel.

I do need to adjust the throttle on the carb a bit more I gain like 100 rpm’s if you move the handlebars to the right but I have a little too much slack I will check a bit more

LOL.... the throttle cable is real easy to bind up when turning the handle bars
it has to be routed just right.... Keep at it you'll get it !
yah you'll have to pull the tank off to get at the cable under it ... I had to put mine outside of the steel loop holder to get it to stop pulling when I turned the handlebars all the way to the stop... the cable is so short it makes it hard to do
....but you can do it ! messing with the carbs won't help when the cable is being pulled get that right first then mess with the carbs.
....
LOL... having the rear wheel on the ground will really help in adjusting the clutch HAHAHAHAHA

Yeah I only just unhooked the cables from the carb I didnít take them fully out so with the extra freedom in the cables it might of always been around I just never noticed it.

And as for the clutch haha yeah.. my left footrest bracket finally snapped off which cracked durning my low side crash so I ordered a replacement I did ride around and got to check the clutch engagement which it was fine.

Iíll check the hoop I canít remember if it in or not.. however I wanted to
Ask when the handlebars are turning fully to the right and hits the stop
Does anyone elseís front brake line get wedged between the bars and the frame? Itís not a lot but more of it doesnít seem right.

that doesn't sound right either... brake line should never be able to be pinched !
I'll go look on mine in a bit and see how it is routed I'm fairly certain it goes in front of the fork not behind it.

I was a bit focused on getting the clutch cable on I forgot to take a picture

Ordered some Rust 911 to remove the remaining rust in the tank I got like a month ago

Anyone know what size screws will fit the drilled out rivets on the muffler? I thought the self tapping screws I had would fit but they are a tad too small.

were they very far off Mike ?
I remember my Brother in laws 305 scrambler was always out'a sync ! you could not keep them IN sync for love nor money so when you did Sync them it always made a big difference ! 5 minutes on that bike and your butt, hands and feet were all numb from the vibration and you had blury vision too !
it's 180 degree crank was the reason ... but it really hauled butt !
you could not compare his bike with mine.... even they both were 305cc's
my bike was a laid back cruiser and his was a rocket ! HAHAHAH
.....
I gott'a get back to putting my Ninja back together but it's still too cold to work on it out there....so....it can wait ! HA !

Right away cyl 1 was filling the bottle right away almost to the point where the second bottle was almost empty.. I moved a little slow and the carbs ran out of fuel lol

The second go around was better.. it’s true it takes very little to adjust them I finally got it to a level where the level kept the same. I was happy with that

The brake line part was easy I see the the little cut out for the hose the zip tie caused it to move

I test fitted the front fairing and the mirror mounts are going to be the hardest to get to move to the correct points on the fairing.

The rear tire only had 6 psi also the swing arm will have to be greased it does creak

lol sounds like your bike needs about 1/2 a can of WD-40 !
I would soak everything...including the seat and handle grips ...any rubber
any metal.... and then wipe it dry ...
I even use WD-40 to clean the windshield ! and seat.... the light oil is just what the seat needs to keep it soft and pliable.
side walls of the tires too... helps prevent cracking...
it really is FIX-IT in a can ! HAHAHAHA
....I wouldn't recommend that if I didn't do it.... and I do it 3 or 4 times a year !

I just watched your video doing the Sync on the Ninja....
very interesting ! never seen a syncing tool like that.... OBVIOUSLY it works
but it is very slow reacting.... the one I made used the tube connecting the
bottles as the gauge and it was very long like 8' long or so...
but the principal is the same.... What ever works right !?!?!?
those bottles are actually perfect for it... LOL
I knew those frapachino bottles were good for something !!!! HA !

Keep after it ! but do it right your life depends on it !

FWIW- i perceive both cylinders fluctuating somewhat within the combustion process, as if the circuits were not totally clean or fuel flow was partially impeded. And suggest turning the idle speed down a bit.

The choke was on just a bit I had the idle down low enough where it wont stall I ended up taking the bike down the street to help warm it up before I checked the carb sync it was fine without the choke but coming to a stop sign pretty much caused the bike to die.

Not sure how much riding would need to ride with zero choke on

I think what Gordon is refuring to is the vibration in the water it did seem kind'a high to me as well but I don't know WHAT it should look like as I haven't done my Sync sense he re did my carbs for me....
if you know what it is supposed to look like you can tell by the fluctuations
that something is off.... so I would listen to Gordon .....
that probably means your pilot curcuits are getting all varnished up and that is why you need to run the choke alot.....
in most cases you should only need the choke to start it and then turn it off in a second or two ... not leave it on for a long time.... having to leave it on a long time tells you something is messed up !....Dirty carbs!
if it's not running like it first came off the show-room floor then something is amiss and needs to be fixed
....
I should know as Mine has yet to run like that.... it's always had a problem starting when it was cold and when I finally did the pilot circuit specifically
on the third try I did finally get it to run acceptably... but I could tell it still was not perfect. those carburetors are the hardest to clean I have ever encountered ! there is a picture that I went by to give me an idea of where to clean... if I can find it I will add it here...
it's a strange pilot circuit and difficult to clean!

nitpicking here....the hose sizes chosen seemed to be to large, thus *any* leakage of air negating the entire synch process.
In any event, it seemed quite rough running.

Gas tank I got from eBay about 2 months ago I used rust911 32 oz makes 4 gallons it was only $43 for 32 oz It was bay far the best route for me. Iím going to switch tanks today.

Replaced the blown tacho bulb, whole fairing had to come off to do that.
Lubed the speedo cable as recommended.
Found a suitable wavy washer in my collection to take out the worst of the free play on the clutch lever.
Replaced the air filter.
And finally cleaned it. Washed the engine down and the back of the fairings while they were off.
Took it for a run to dry it off, of course.
