Not needed if it's a street bike, IMHO not even for a track bike of the small size of the Ninjette.

Yep, but a few of us racers used a stock gsxr damper (around $35ish).

Most of us gut the damper. Because it's just on there to pass race rules, it DOESN'T have to work. Aside of that, I haven't seen a need for a damper on my surface streets. Does yours warrant it?

lol, not even all that sure of what it does, i just figured if it could make things safer, then it might be worth it

It's purpose to to mitigate head shake over rough surfaces or when the front gets light upon aggressive throttle application. It also allows the rider to be tighter on the bars with less of the ill effects.

Well, is it safer? I aint convinced 100%. I guess it will depend on you, your riding style and your riding environment. If it stops a tank slapper early on then fine enough, I can accept it. fyi, Many 600's come with these dampers stock on the steering stem or forks.
