Dropped
lol...dropped my bike at the Total Control bike course yesterday. Right in front of Lee Parks . I had just finished a cornering exercise....doing not bad with my throttle control, vision and holding my line. Was approaching him standing there and got distracted, stopped the bike and musta forgot to put my foot down ...and boom over she went....
It happened very quickly , no damage to bike thanks to frame slider...but talk about a real facepalm moment |

well, good thing the frame sliders did their job . It's always better to be embarrassed than hurt.

How was the course? Mind creating a review post or write up post? I'm interested in taking it at well.
I think @adouglas is thinking about it too. |

What Lee Parks said about your total control?

I really wasn't having a good day, I was very tired from staying up too late dealing with some family **** that happened the night before. It also rained very heavy for a good part of the morning. And I hadn't reviewed the book ahead of time like I would have liked to do. That being said, my expectations were far greater than what I feel I came out of it with. But, I have yet to practice the exercises that we learned. The other thing that Lee Parks recommended was to go and re-read his book. |

From what I gather, this course happens in a bunch of different cities all over North America. Lee does not attend all the classes everywhere.
There was a group of 18 riders including heavy cruisers, naked bikes, sport tourers and sport bikes. We were broken into 3 groups of 6 bikes each. The course here in Toronto is "farmed out" or subcontracted to a company called Sharp Rider Training, who provide the instructors who are trained by Lee. To be perfectly honest, I am not sure those instructors fully understood what they were teaching, or if they did, didn't posses the skills to convey the message as well as I would have liked. I am not trying to dissuade anyone from taking the course. Read the book first. Practice some of the drills.Talk to your area instructors (on the phone, or in person, not just by email). Then make your decision. Remembering that you will only get out of it what you are willing to put in. |

Just teasing you !!!
I am glad that neither the bike or you suffered any damage, and that you got to know the famous Mr. Parker. The book is very good and you may need to read it several times while practicing the exercises described in it in order to obtain all the benefits that you could. I am a slow learner and one day of "training" never did it for me. One-to-one good personal couching is great, but the student capabilities and interest are still the bottle neck of the learning process. These riding things are complicated and non-natural and hard to burn onto our neurons. Keep reading and practicing with discipline and you will see huge progress in little time.
