Need help with a shifter issue

I recently bought an '05 Ninja 250 with some electrical issues. I successfully managed to repair these problems, but after reassembling my bike, I'm having issues shifting above 2nd gear. I am able to successfully shift into second, but when I try going up past that, I don't get a click and don't shift up. I can shift up and down without a problem between 1st, N, 2nd.

When doing my work on the electrical system, I removed the left engine panel to get at the stator. In doing this, I removed the shift level and chain cover behind it. When I replaced it, I though that I replace it similarly. I have made repeated adjustments to the position of the lever as all it's various points, and this hasn't gotten me anywhere.

Is it possible that I did something inadvertently to the transmission? What else could be wrong?

Thanks!

it could be that you changed the orientation of the shift knuckle. The knuckle is where the shift rod screws into.

Welcome Matt!

Post a pic of how your shifter and linkage is currently installed. Maybe that will help us point you in the right direction.

I'm betting it's just not adjusted correctly.

Read through this section - http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_do_...the_shifter%3F - and closely compare the photos with yours.

With regard to the shift knuckle - short of taking the engine apart, is there any other may to be more sure of this before I go to the effort? Looking at the assembly (not something that I have any experience with), I'm not sure that I understand what you're saying. Could I have bent the internal shift lever? (Diagram here: http://www.kawasakipartshouse.com/oe...ange-mechanism)

I've posted a picture - I've tried a bunch of different orientations with my clutch, pivot bolt and shifter linkage (the picture is how it is now). I've been getting pretty much the same response. I'll get on it to ride, get up to 2nd gear and when I press up to shift to 3rd, it doesn't click/respond. I can tell that nothing happened while riding too from the gear range/engine speed.

The only thing else I can think of is maybe the shaft got pushed inward from accident forcing the shifter claw changer thing at the end of the rod on the opposite side of the knuckle out of alignment with the shifter drum star.
