Sold The Ducati, Bought a 250R

Not a new rider, but a brand new Ninja Owner, just picked up today...09 Limited Ed Green/Black/White. After a succession of bikes over the years culminating with a Ducati...I had an epiphany and went back to something truly FUN! Way down on power? You betcha! Way up on fun factor...!

Good deal! May be down on power... but you get the feeling of conquering it everytime you ride!

This is actually pretty cool because one day last fall I got off my shift at work, and there was a guy on an 848 who shared my spot when he went to fedex next door. He said hi and told me that he started out on a 250 and absolutely loved it and wanted to get another one once they were FI. So anyhow, welcome to the forum!

Yea, those Ducati bikes are ugly, slow, breakdown all the time, the wrong color, sound like shyt, don't handle, and are half the bike the 250 is. Good choice getting rid of it.

Supersport 800. I also had a CBR-600' CBR-1000 and an FZR-1000. the 600 was high strung and required tons of effort. The liter bikes were scary fast and heavy. The Duck was light, nimble and gorgeous...but you were always afraid you would dump it, scratch it, or breathmon it wrong...plus the parts and service are pricey. It was definitely a good bike to have though.

Isn't that the truth! While the feedback on that bike in the turns was truly epic, it just flat out hurt after about 45 minutes and at 46 years old, I ain't gettin more flexible. So far the Turtle is a lot kinder on the body.

I own a Mold Remediation company. We do mold remediation, mold prevention, concrete waterproofing, crawlspace systems and indoor air quality testing.

Black and Green are company colors and the bike is getting company logos. Tax writeoff bitchez!

OP, good move. I have done the same. I'm not going to claim the 250 is more fun that my ZX-10R was, but more stress free to ride. Knowing I'm getting 70mpg, that I can't do wheelies or stoppies on it. Knowing that my right hand can't get me into trouble because my brain has time to react at the sane acceleration/speeds this bike is capable of. Tires cost $100 a set and I can put them on myself and they last 15k miles...that is why I came back to a 250. It's all you need.

Yet, I found myself cruising to work on the freeway the other day wishing I was on the Zx-10R and that I could drop it down to 3rd gear going 75mph and bring up the front end. But the MPG and operating cost is worth the tradeoff.

Stress Free...that is the perfect description for the bike. Wicked quick in the twisties but no expectation of peeling your eyelids off on the straights. No pressures to be the fastest thing on the road and lots of little mods to do in the future that are also inexpensive. Cheap to operate, fuel, fix and insure...plus it looks great. I suspect, knowing myself, I'll probably get the bug to get something faster in the future...but I alao suspect I'll be keeping this one.

Welcome!

SS-800...a rare bike even among Ducatis. And yes, Ducatis are beautiful, and yes, they ride beautifully...but they aren't...with the exception of the Monster...the most comfortable of bikes. If you find an R-6 comfy (in which case you are a masochist), you'll be fine. If you are mid 40's like me...not so much. As a result, I didn't end up riding it as much as it deserved. It sold to an early 30's Brit who wanted a Duck since he was 5 years old and he could't be happier.
