Low siding a 250 in qualifying

Everybody watch me low side during last weekends CVMA Round 4 qualifying session at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway it was a party!

Link to original page on YouTube.

Me: handlebar fell right on to my leg as well as the bike so I've got a bit of a limp but I can tell it's going away. The rest of me is just a little sore but I should be totally fine in about a week.

Bike: one bent handlebar and one very exploded wind screen as well as some obvious race bodywork damage. The bike was fixed in minutes and I didn't miss a single race that day

Kickstand mount! Gotta take the kickstand off for racing and pretty much all race bikes have the mount cut/ground off from the frame for more clearance but I move my bike from street to race and vice versa so I can't remove the mount.

I had been dragging the mount so much I told people I fully expected to crash some time that weekend anyway - I'd basically gotten used to sliding through left turns because of the mount dragging.

There is very very close to nothing to bolt a stand to already hahah. I have one of the mounting screws ground through about 3/5 of the way already

You've also stated that you don't drag a knee. So your BP must be pretty dirty.

its amazing how durable these bikes are, weve thrown ours down the track more than once. new clipon, some 'glass and little paint, and bend the rear peg back... good to go again!

just speculating, but it looks you were really off line and may have ran into some marbles/crud/sand and lost the back end.

i really want to think that, since i'm trying to avoid grinding that mount off, in case we eventually want to sell it... "low miles, great condition, never raced" lol.

raise your front and rear a little bit (level the fork tubes, get custom dogbones in the rear from rexbo) problem solved!

Sorry man it was definitely the kickstand mount. I'd gotten used to it dragging and consequently me sliding through turns all day. I was definitely off line as I was trying to get that pass in there (which is a terrible place to do it) but it was for sure the mount. Cut that sucker off to race that bike!

Knox Biomechs. They are amazing! They have plastic sliders built in to the palm that worked magically. The left hand sliders are now pretty flat as they ground off but they did their job and they did it well.

I like this solution. Max, is this an option in CVMA or do you have to run stock dogbones? That will give you some more clearance.

I can do it but the dog bones with a stock should wont do a whole lot, my big ass bottoms out that thing everywhere. It's just time for all around upgrading lol.

It might be time for upgrading, but the dogbones do more than you think. Even if you keep bottoming out the shock, the bottomed out height of the rear will still be higher than it is now with the dogbones. Basically, they'd have the same effect no matter what shock you're using.

I have shorter dogbones on my bike and I love it.

Are the gloves done or can you still wear them and expect to them to hold up in another crash?

those little plastic sliders were kinda ghetto and ground down to almost nothing even only going like 35 or whatever it is through turn 9. probably could crash again...maybe. but definitely not more than that i think

i also still owe max for crashing his bike so i'm buying a shock from tiff and some springs so hopefully next round he wont bottom out all over the place... better watch yo self! it could be you that he is throwing his bike at trying to pass! :P

May I suggest buying the Held gloves. You could crash on those over and over and over. They ARE by far the best gloves. Worth every penny!
