Looking at Ninjette's...info?

Oke, I'm 52, 5'10, 200lbs. I have several bikes but usually ride a 07 HD touring bike or one of my vintage zooki 2 stroke triples.

With gas bein crazy, I'm lookin at something that gets better economy just to get to and from work (40 miles round trip).

Any input on if the 250 Ninja would fit the bill? I tried riding the wife's Rebel 250 and it jus plain hurts. I'm eating my knees and my back kills me.

I ride all year, all weather, from 13f to 110f, rain snow sun whatever.

Thanks

Eric

I'm 5'11 and about 180lbs. I don't have any fitment problems on the Ninja. The primary complaints I heard about fitment is from heavier riders. The ninja is definitely optimized for people around 150-170lbs.

That's not to say it won't be a fun ride for people over that weight, but at 200lbs.. you might notice the suspension being a little soft and acceleration not being so quick. At any rate, the differences are probably subtle. People actually ride double up on this bike.. on the freeway!

I'm 6'2" and 250lbs (all muscle of course ). I've had my ninja 250 for almost 2 months now and it pulls very well. I can ride 2 up with my gf and this bike still performs well. I can ride with my gf on the back at 80mph comfortably, I've gotten up to nearly 95mph 2 up on the highway without any problems. I generally get around 50mpg with the needles shimmed and snorkel removed. Hope that helps.

Welcome!!

I'm 37, 5'9", 165-170lbs. and love the fit of the Ninja 250. I also didn't have any issue with it when I was 190lbs. last year.

The Ninja 250 is nothing like the Rebel 250 so you should give the Ninja a good look, it just may work for ya.

I ride 10-11 months out of the year depending on the year and have outfitted my 250 with some comfort mods (bar risers, seat, grips, throttle lock) as well as mods to help it on the highway (replaced the front and rear sprockets) and have a pipe and jet kit. I run 7500rpm at 75mph with power left to pass. I get 60+ mpg average over every tank for the past 2 seasons, the best being 67mpg, 62 being the normal.

I used to have a Street Glide so I know what your coming from, if you need any more info just hit me up... there are lots of great people on this board who like to help so again... welcome.

I am 5-11 235lbs and it gets me going just fine. Sit on one and if you feel comfortable on it the engine wont be an issue.

welcome! i personally don't look at gas prices or mpg. i'm gonna ride the bike anyway and it's out of my hands, although a honda rebel shouldn't be in anyones future (she should have gone Virago for 250 cruiser.) if you can afford a bike for a better commute you shouldn't worry about 4-5 bucks extra per week on gas. luck with what you decide, knowing the ninja is the only way to go and all.

Zooki triples. I had a few Suzuki two smokers. I loved them. Had some Yami's two strokes also. Oh yeah, had some Kawi 2 strokes also (mostly dirt).

Yah, i went through the "enduro" line-up on clearwater beach in mid 70's, 175 to 250 to 360. the 360 almost broke my face with it's pop-up. Ended up with the 175 for around town as it was basically free, loved it @21. I can remember Honda came out with a 4-stroke, to say way way ahead of time is being nice, woof woof dog.
Man I used to make Daytona as often as the Sox opener, every year, but time marks a man, injuries too. Peace out bro.

Welcome! I am 6'0" and over 200. I don't have any problems with accelleration, I run it mostly on the highway between 70 and 80 mph. No problems. I did purchase a 15T front sprocket that I have to put on still, but honestly, the stock one is not that bad. It took a little getting used to running the RPMs up higher than I was used to, but it is a strong little engine made to run at higher RPMs.
