Question Highway riding?

What do you guys with more experience on this bike think? I got mine on the highway for the first time today and it scared the crap out of me, I have never ridden on the highway, I always take the scenic routes :roll eyes: The wind was extremely strong, we just had a storm roll through a few hours earlier but the wind didn't feel that strong before I pulled on the entrance ramp. I really thought my bike was simply going to pull out from underneath me. I am going to give it another shot on a much nicer day, I know it can handle it, but it was a frightening first time! Anybody think next time will be different or should I just get over myself because thats a normal highway run?

After awhile you don't even notice it. I had the pre-gen which was even lighter than the new-gens and even here in FL with decent wind on a normal basis I never really felt like I was being blown all over the place like so many others have said. I am one of those crazy people that I was on the highway the first time out on my ninjette lol. Maybe it's just in the rider?

Try it again like you suggested and see how it makes you feel. It could just be that you're not as used to being on a bike as in a car? Wind affects both differently and some just can't handle how it is on a bike. I'm not saying that you're one of those, just that there are people out there like that.

On a Normal day it's fine, only head wind which blows over your windscreen if you tuck in. I find that even with high side winds if you tuck in tight, it's not that bad.

With the stock windscreen, the wind is indeed strong! I hear the double bubble helps...as well as hugging the gas tank :P

Thanks guys, I feel a little ashamed now but thats alright I do have a double bubble on mine and will try to tuck next time. It was a little unnerving today so I didn't even think about it, oh well. I ride fine off the highway, I just expected the same on it, maybe tucking and no storm system will fix my little problem, I will keep my fingers crossed! Was just curious what you guys thought about it, I have never felt it try to come out from under me before so it was a little scary, I will suck it up and stop being a ninny

Were i live we get a lot of crosswind in the afternoon. Best thing is double bubble and learn to tuck. Mabe just a few short trips on the highway to get use to it. Just takes getting use to.

It felt scary to me the first time and I was on local roads, I thought the front wheel was off the ground. Now a thousand miles later I got used to it and I just naturally balance the wind when it hits, highways with decent wind aren't even a problem anymore.

The first highway ride for me was like that. I was so uncomfortable. Now it is pretty normal. You will get used to it.

Yup, I am the guy reviving a somewhat dead thread, at least its mine!

I had to take a small highway trip (45 minutes or so) down the main highway here and I do believe it was simply the storm winds that scared me so much that first time. The trip down felt just like any other day on my little ninjette. I am making the return trip home tomorrow morning and must admit I kind of look forward to it. Cheers to freedom of the road! :thumb up:

Just like everything else on a bike, it just takes some getting used to!
