Wide tire Ninja 250r
I know that this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but this is something that has interested me for quite a while, so I figured I'd go for it.
Seeing that I have a brother that is a master at machining and welding I enlisted him to do all the hard work. He took a stock swing arm and started hacking... We used an 05 Zx6r rim with 180 tire and stock 250r rear brake bracket that was milled out to accept the Zx6r axle. While putting on the swingarm I also threw on some new 2wheels levers and a Puig GP screen. All in all the new swingarm and wheel added about 5-6 lbs, and has had little to no impact on performance. Took it for a 30ish mile ride today and had a lot of fun, lots of twisties and a couple of long straights and i really didn't notice a difference... That said, here are the pictures! That's all for now!!! I've got a few more things in store for it, but gotta wait on the funds! |

I coulda swore i had posted in here before!!! lol. I see your from northern KY, I actually live in Bowling green. I'm sure my brother would entertain the idea of making another one. mine was kinda the guinea pig cause he didn't even have a bike to mock it up on. I sent him all the stuff and he just kinda went for it. Luckily when he sent it back it all worked! |

That actually looks pretty decent! How much wider is that swingarm than the factory swingarm? It's hard to tell by your picture but how close is the chain to the tire? I find it hard to believe you can't tell the difference though... when I went from the factory 130 to a 150 I could definitely tell a difference. Just wonder how much this affects the handling

I have a few questions.
1. How much would he charge to make another one, and I mean basically to "BOLT-ON" completion? 2. Is the rear tire on the centerline of the bike, or is it offset to keep the chain in alignment with the front sprocket? 3. If it bottoms out, will the tire contact the rear brake reservoir? |

That is cool, I like me a well done farkle and this one makes my list. If he will make another (or few more, lol) post up a price and make sure I am first on the list.
Bowling green was real nice last time I was down there. I need to go back soon.

How To Make Money Off of Ninja 250 Owners
Step One: Design a useless product that does nothing other than make people go "Ooohhhhh!" Step Two: Make more than one Step Three: Price it so you have a very nice profit margin. These stupid people, I mean, fantastic customers, will spend many times the actual value of their bikes on parts for their bike, take advantage of this opportunity. Step Four: Take your profits and use them to buy essential necessities such as, food, water, genital pleasures, shelter, cocaine, and transportation. Step Five: Prepare for retirement.

I'm just saying, we all spend way too much $$$ on our bikes. Your EFI kit was easily half the price of your bike
At least so far I've only spent 25% of the value of my bike

I'll get it, then I will only need to buy one size of tires for both bikes. The amount of headaches that will prevent is worth it IMO

Jiggles, you kind of hit it on the nail on that comment about making money but I'm not here to judge what people like to spend their money on. Some of my coworkers eat out for lunch and dinner 6x a week which probably equals out to less than what 250 owners would spend on their bike. At least spending it on the bike the owner has something to show for it. Like I always say, It is worth what you are willing to spend on it. |

Nothing wrong with making money dude
I kinda want this for the sole reason that it would make experienced riders who can spot a ninja 250 because of the rear wheel size go, WTF, wait thats a zx6? No a 650? No, thats wtf WHY IS YOUR GODDAMN REAR TIRE SO BIG!? Also, the ONLY reason for putting larger rims on a 250 is for different size tire options (i.e. tires that only come in 180) Putting larger tires on the 250 isn't going to improve anything

As stated by "Choneofakind" they are indeed cheap led mirrors. Ebay is my friend. Why not? I'm going to say that a few times throughout this post. I'd love to be the guy who goes to track days every month, and makes canyon roads his bitch, but I'm not... I don't live anywhere near a track... I do live in an area where there are really nice twisty roads, but I'm not dragging knee pretending i'm on a track. Quite frankly I have no intention of testing my limits on the streets and sliding into a Ford Taurus on the open road. That's not my style. It's my bike. Like I said at the very beginning of my 1st post, "This is not everyone's cup of tea." I understand that notion, but please be nice Quote:
That's pretty funny. I personally like the part about using my new found profits to service my genitals! You're completely right though, there are a lot of people who would do that. Honestly I don't think my brother wants to build another one of these... ever. lol. He made mine completely blind. He lives on the other side of the country and made this with no mock bike or any idea that it was going to work. He was in the dark and was honestly sick about the possibility that his contraption was going on his little brothers bike before he could ever test it. That said, the workmanship and overall construction is amazing, and it works like a charm. He may entertain the idea of building another, but if he did it really wouldn't be outlandish. It really wasn't that expensive to do... ebay 115 for the rim tire sprocket rear disc etc. 35 for a stock 250 swingarm 15 for a stock 250 brake bracket 150ish for other random crap. axle, spacers, new chain Little over $300 for parts That's less than I paid for my exhaust. So really not that bad. |

Hey bro, welcome to be forums. You've done some fantastic stuff to your bike, but it looks too un natural. The rear looks very out of place. Just my
P.s. I'm not averse to fatter rear rims, I'm working on getting vrossi rims for my black beauty as soon as I can afford them. |

If you're gonna drop a bigass 180 in the back might as well put a 120 up front...it'll fit on the stock rim.

I've already got a 120 on my front, been like that since I dumped the stock IRC's it came with. Never going back, the 120 Michelin is 100% better than that rubberband they wrapped it with from the factory.

That's pretty legit. I'm gonna have to look into a 120 for the front when I go to buy a new set of tires. I'll see about getting u some measurements and a full parts list next time I talk to my brother...

I'd argue the stock size (110) Michelin Pilot Power is better than a pinched 120...
