My 1st Accident

So I did it....
I low sided into a ditch.
F*ck*n Target Fixation
We were 2000 strong on the CT 9/11 ride today everything was going well and i had to go WAY too fast. Should've ate my wheaties this morning! I didn't lean enough and went off the road loosing my left turn signal, my mirror, bent my gear lever (having to get it towed home ) NOT a good Sunday!
This was my first group ride and not my last. Hopefully I will be back in action soon enough.

I literally feel your pain. I just had my first crash today as well. My left knee's still bleeding a little.

Hope you didn't get hurt. Ride safe.

Those parts are pretty easy to fix from what work I've done, still - bike looks way better than mine does right now -- you're okay right?

The great Robert has taught us that when you crash a 250r you have to get an R6.

I'm on the hunt for a slightly used 250R to replace her smashed one. Something from 2010 or newer.

I 100% get not wanting a dropped bike but mileage on these guys doesn't really matter. Even an 08 ninjette with 30k miles is worth getting. As long as its been properly maintained that thing will easily go another 20k miles, and if after 20k the engine did take a poop you can get a new "used" engine for $400-$700

What do you consider too much mileage on a ninjette?

The lower the better. The one that was just totaled had less than 4k miles.
Anything under approx 15k miles is fine by me.

Thats still quite low mileage considering the 250s potential lifespan (if it doesn't get totaled) At least you're not part of the 10k crowd

Wait... the damage you posted was the only damage to the bike and they totaled it????? From what you said it was COMPLETELY fixable..... Was Craig with you when you dropped it? Do you have pics of the damage?

Get the lesser payout and keep the bike and fix it.... If the bike is totaled most ins companies will give you a lesser payout if you keep the car, but idk about bike ins....

I was with her when the accident happened. She was directly behind me. I saw the whole thing thru my mirror. My blue Ninja is in the backgroud of her pic. She took that pic whele we waited for the tow truck.

There was a bit of scraping to the frame. The adjuster said they would not repair the frame but rather replace it. Since the cost of a frame, fairings turn signal, headlight, mirror, etc plus labor brought the amount over the value they totaled it. The insurance is giving us a nice amount for the bike plus it's accessories which will easily cover the cost of a replacement since we had a $100 deductible. Preference is to own a bike which has never been dropped. Progressive Insurance kind of rocks.

Gotcha... was just a thought but with the money you get you can get another bike than do it. Was just some advice. Glad Liz is ok. Thats really all that matters money or no money!

You'll look like more of a dweeb sitting in a ditch with your bike because you upgraded for no GOOD reason aside from what OTHER PEOPLE think.
