welp it looks like this it. I'm gonna miss you guys.

Hi all

I started on the ninja 250 for about 6 months. I've been through ups and downs with the bike and have crashed on the highway going 60 on a exit(DUMB ME I KNOW ) but I was wearing protective gear so I am fine. After that incident I put an ads up on craigslist the other day to be sold but nobody wanted it for my asking price (1500). I was not in a rush to sell it so I took it for a spin when the weather got a little better. I road to my friend fzr600's house to ride with him. His roommate who claims he rides wanted to ride my bike and I said no because I knew he did not know how to ride. After begging me for 10 minutes I told him if he crashes it he buys it for 1,200. He gets happy as F*CK and gets all his gear on and 5 minutes he crashes. Now I have 1,200 and currently saving up to get a 600.

Everything that I've learned I would say the feedback and advice from others on this forum has taught me a lot. This is not a goodbye forever I am still going to be lurking through the forums.

Great having you here and good luck with the new bike.
P.S. Don't let your friend ride your new bike.

I have several friends like this, every time they ask to ride I ask if the individual has 5 grand in his bank account in case he totals it. Good luck with your hunt for a 600, if I may I recommend the cbr600rr (all years) a 636 or an 07-present r6. If you want to have a passenger at some point don't get the r6 lol.

You may have learned a lot here but you're still VERY MUCH a novice.

There is no substitute for riding. Six months on a bike does not an accomplished rider make.

This is coming from a guy who bought his first bike in 1987.

Only you can decide if you're ready for a higher performance bike, but consider this: Crashing at 60 on a docile bike is a BIG warning sign that you might need to chill just a bit and learn more.

Supersports are huge fun. They can also be really dangerous if you're not ready. Be smart, be careful, ride within your own limits. The bike can do a LOT more than you can and if you step too far over the line it can kill you deader than Julius Caesar.

Be a perpetual student. I learn stuff here all the time, and I've been riding for what, 27 years?

I encourage you to stick around. Something you might find is that the supersport forums are full of idiots. There are people who know what they're talking about, but the average IQ is not that high and the attitudes towards safety tend to be... well, you decide.

I decided to stick around because this is a forum worth visiting.

Besides, it's become my mission in life to keep the Count to a Million thread going.

He twisted your rubber arm huh? If I beg enough, can I borrow $1200 . Any ways, hopefully the guy is ok. Good luck with finding a new bike.

The roommate had gear, but doesn't know how to ride a motorcycle?

Thanks I know 6 months is not that long but I feel that I am ready to experience more. I am going to take my time and try not to kill myself on a bigger bike.. This forum will always be my first go-to site.

He likes the idea of riding a motorcycle but has never ridden one. He saves his money for gear and tries to flex at school by carrying his helmet around. He is a poser but I am just glad he is learning to ride on the 250 instead of crashing a expensive bike. I still keep in touch with him and the bike and so far it looks like he's crashed it 4 more times. Oh well it's all part of the learning process

I am looking at a ZZR600 or a ZX6R. I'm not entirely sure but the Coleman Powersports in my area is having a bike auction in March so I am sure to buy one then.

the 07 and newer is way sexier, that's about it since the updates are minimal in that line anyway especially compared to the other lines like the 636-zx6r-back to 636 or honda's 3 cbr's in this time period.

I'm personally torn on which CBR I want, the Tribal orange looks sick but so does the '08 orange. Also repsol editions always look amazing. All I do know is that the CBR is my favorite 600 even over the 636 since it does everything my style "who needs power when you have low weight and great handling"

Can you elaborate more on this?

I'm not here to be your mommy and I realize your mind is made up on the matter. But I can see 2 threads by you in the Crash section and would just like to hear your reasoning for the statement above.

Yes I did post in the crash section because I don't feel ashamed of sharing my story and receiving feedback even though they can get harsh. Also I have posted more than 2 threads in the crash section and will continue to do so.

I am ready to experience a different bike, different power. What more is there not to get? After-all I don't have the 250 anymore so I decided to move on. Who knows maybe I will get another 250 as a second bike for gas milage

The weather was actually nice considering it was january in virginia (about 50 degrees). I took the inside routes to my friend's house and after I met up with him, we took the highway to a local mall which is about 30 minutes away. While I was entering the highway I did not realized my jacket was unzipped and did not care to stop to zip it up because I was already increasing speed to catch up to my friend on his 600. While going 60+ the wind pushed my jacket back like a superman cape and I was swerving from one lane to the other unintentionally. At that point I was basically holding on to my life gripping the steering hard and slowing down. I saw the first exited on my right and proceed to head towards it. I slowed down and went in for a lean to the right on the curve and ended up going straight onto dirt. Luckily there was no guard railing or I'd be seriously injured.

What I think happened was when I went in for a lean to the right the wind had pushed me left causing me to wobble. I am not so entirely sure it happened way to fast.

FWIW, you are not even ready to be on the road if that is what happened and what you believe. Buy a tiny bike and get some lessons. Not slamming you, I'm really serious.

I dont have the 250 anymore. I learned from my mistake and I have successfully exited similar exits to that one before. I only took that random one because I needed to stop to zip my jacket. That was the first time that has ever happened to me. again I do not own a 250 anymore to everyone telling me I need more time. I did not sell the 250 to buy another 250. I might in the future but i'm sticking to my plan. not being ignorant, I just know my own comfort level and if i end up making another mistake, then I make another mistake. But i will try my best to avoid making mistakes. Not everyone is a destined rider. I know what i'm putting myself up against and I take pride in that.

Well...be sure to check insurance quotes on super sports before you buy one. For full coverage, you'll be looking at a couple grand a year. For full coverage. You can certainly go cheap on your insurance and it won't be a whole lot more than what you've been paying for the 250. But insurance is there to protect you....why would anyone want to go cheap on it..?

what you are trying to say is that the 250 doesn't scare you in a straight line (except when you almost crash it) and so you need a 600 to keep up with your buddy who goes fast in a straight line.

you should try turning fast.

You interpretted my simple sentence completely wrong. Take some time off to stop thinking so hard

Absolutely. Ask nicely and I might let you borrow it when you meet up with ally later

Other posters are right but non the less you do you. I'll tell you now if you think a 250 is a bike my any means after 6 months then a 600 will be a monster it's not even close to the same league. It's like a hot wheels tricycle compared to a mountain bike. But my recommendation is the zx6r. I upgraded to a 2011 and love it. Got a brand new one fairly cheap.
