First canyon day
Took my Ninjette out yesterday for a run through a mild canyon. It was great! I did learn, though, not to get distracted, since if I let myself watch the bicyclist on the side of the road, making sure not to get too close to them, that I instead get too close to the centerline if I forget to countersteer.
Luckily, my brain did not lock up, and I was able to bring it back and hold the corner, so I'm pleased about that. Need to make sure I pay attention, though. Bicyclist, and an oncoming truck. (note to self, do not look at the oncoming truck) A downhill set of twisties, held at 20mph, compression-braking in 3rd gear, into Ojai, and lunch while we charged my hubby's electric bike. then we went back the way we came. Total mileage on the day: 105. I got 88 miles during the first week, putting around town and getting used to riding and used to the bike. And this marks the first time I've filled the tank. Conclusion: Canyons are fun. Hoping we can go do it again next weekend. And I have a short route that I can do during the week. Not a canyon, but a bit of rolling and curving stuff. |

Sounds like fun. Target fixation will bite you every time. Keep the head up and looking where you want to go.

Yeah, I remembered to change where I was looking, so I managed to hold the turn. Paid more attention to my head-turn after that!
Hubby has a Brammo Empulse-R, which is Victory Empulse now. They sold the company to Polaris and we'd worried they would stop making them, but they just changed the badges and kept right on, so that's good. He gets probably 80 miles or so of range on it per charge. He prefers the electric to the gas one (Triumph Sprint-GT 1050) on rides that it's appropriate. In this case, we filled it to start. I was 88 miles on the fill-up that she came with, and we planned a relatively longish day so we filled up to make sure I didn't have to worry about doing it at lunch. Husband says I'll probably get 150 on a tank, but for my first big outing we didn't want to push it.

You ought to get way more than 150 on a tank.
I usually get at least 250 before I hit reserve. |

Nice! Yeah, I don't know how much I'll get on a tank yet.
