Now I feel like a real rider.

Hey at least I crashed it in its "element"

Link to original page on YouTube.

Ok here's what happened:

1) I go in too fast into the turn and pick a real bad line
2) I realize I might not make it so I grab brakes not too hard but enough to
3) Transfer most weight in front tire which
4) although the lean angle wasn't severe, it was enough that i tucked the front.

What I should have done:

a) After slowing down a tad while straight up, lean and open throttle which would transfer weight to rear tire and it would grip.

b) If I decide I can't make a) or can't think of it in that short amount of time, just straighten the damn thing up and run off track it beats crashing!

I'm , bike's

My body was traveling 74mph when I actually hit the ground. Could've been way worse but I'm totally ok. I wish I only slided but I actually tumbled a few times before stopping. Had few sore muscles and was hard breathing at first (cause my back was twisted a bit and breathing would hurt my back lol) but I started feeling better next day. This happened on Saturday but I'm totally ok now.

Helmet has scratches seems reusable but i'll make sure.

Suit has one small hole in arm but it's tiny and the whole suit is very much usable (<3 Dainese) and in great shape. Now even cooler with battle scars!

Gloves and Boots are perfect.

Bike has : Bent seat frame, bent forks, obliterated tank, lost gauge cluster, punctured airbox enclosure, messed up body work, maybe bent swing arm.

I will be fixing and getting help fixing from fellow local forumitees (thanks for offering your help guys. you know who you are)

I have absolutely no doubts about going to track again and will do so once I fix the bike

Oh and before anyone mentions, this crash has absolutely nothing to do with the number of CC's I had so please kindly stop before starting a flame war.

Don't grab the brakes there, it won't end well.

Great outcome otherwise from a pretty high-speed get-off. Very glad you're OK.

Glad you're okay and being analytical. Get yourself checked out if you need to, don't want any quiet injuries sneaking up on you.

CC war? Pfft! That's a "See? See?" Awesome bike having a bad day but rider is badass. LOL!
Yep, check the helmet and make sure someone keeps an eye on the helmet contents, concussions aren't fun.

How long had you been out on the track that day? I'm not a racer (at all) but it seems like "brain-fade" might have been a contributing factor. Were you tired? Dehydrated? Low blood sugar?

It looked like you didn't come anywhere near taking full advantage of the track that was available at the turn prior to the mishap turn (didn't clip the apex), which I would guess is critical in setting up for a successful line (the mishap turn appears to be a pretty big bend, yes?).

if i remember right it was the third lap of his second session. i think his problem was taking advice from the wrong people LOL. i know we said brake later gurk, but thats TOO LATE! :P

he could have made the turn at the speed he was going if he had done the braking earlier and was on the gas over the crest

Glad you are okay, Gurk. +1 credibility for crashing at track, +1 for manning up with good post crash analysis. Good reminder for us all about our (sometimes overpowering) urge to brake rather than use gas and lean when we hit corner too hot. Did it over the weekend myself (no bad result), and I was kicking myself for not being stronger than my incorrect instinct. Thanks for another reminder, maybe it'll help - that is what this forum is all about.

There's really no way of making 100% sure and I'll show it to a few people who know what they're talking about along with taking all the insides out and investigating whether there's cracks in the outer shell or inner parts especially the foam.

Best bet is always just buying a new one obviously.

Man that turn is deceptive too, you always gotta carry too much speed over the crest because there's so much runout on the other side! Scares me every time going that direction

Sorry bout the crash, but where else can you get on the pavement going 70+ mph and only feel "a little sore"? All things considered you're just a little lighter in the wallet, and thats all.

blink : I'm definitely more straight up than previous laps but the bike still had a little bit of lean. When you're on brakes, the weight transfers in front as you know and the smallest lean can make the front just give up and fold.

I know it looks straight up but I had slight lean and it was enough for the front to fold like that. I have nothing to blame here. Track wasn't slippery, tires weren't cold. It was just bad technique.

also notice that the front locked as soon as you got past the crest. Camber changes will do that

But hey, thats how you learn, get back out there when you can and get faster!

You should have kept your 250 for a track bike. Obviously you can't handle anything bigger. What a noob!

I am sure you would have made the same mistake on any bike. S*** happens! Sometimes you just have to learn things the hard way.

Not one bit surprised at your crash.

Remember back in Demcember you asked about going "track-only" before you've gotten your "slow-skills" down pat.

How many laps did you complete prior to the crash?

How much $$ are you out now and how many track events have you participated?

Whatever, at least I'm teling the truth.. sometime that may not be what people want to hear. But when someone can't argue against the truth, they bring up personal attacks such as your post that has nothing related to the topic.

You want anyone to believe your arguement, post something truthful for a change.
