Best Group Buy EVER for Koso RX-2/RX-2N Complete Ninja Kits!

Hi Ninjette.org!
Some of you guys probably remember my intern Jordan, who ran a great group buy on here last year for Koso Ninja 250 RX-2/RX-2N kits. Well unfortunately he's no longer with us (got too smart and busy finishing his engineering degree ). Well, I'm Evan. I own and run RaceTech Electric. I've been working closely with Koso the last year, and I want to offer another large GB package for the Koso Ninja 250 Plug & Play kits.

I'm going to try and simplify this deal as much as possible, and streamline it. This thread will be for all public discussion, and a place for me to post updates and answer questions. The official record of who's buying will be kept through my website. Your order will be locked in when you purchase and pay through a special product page I've created. This makes it much simpler for me to manage this deal.

UPDATE!
3/28/2013

See discussion below. We're now keeping this group buy live through April in order to collect at least 5 committed buyers. After we have 5 buyers, it will a majority vote when to close the group buy. I will keep this open to collect customers until the committed members decide they want me to stop waiting and get the parts in progress. After the close, I will order the bulk components. It might take up to 2 weeks to get the parts to you from that day. Hopefully sooner, but they have to get to me from Canada, and it will depend on their inventory at the time I place the order.

Now, on to the specifics:

The most important part....the price:
$340

Why is this a deal, and what do you get? Well I'm happy to explain that.

Koso RX-2N Gauge: Retail $330
OR
Koso RX-2 Gauge: Retail $320

Koso RX-2/RX-2N Adapter Board: Retail $45

Koso RX-2/RX-2N Plug & Play Harness: Retail $45

FREE Racetech Electric LED Voltmeter: Retail $20

You can click on the links above to see pictures and details of each item. Basically what I'm shooting at here with this group buy, is that you basically pay the cost of gauge (+shipping), and you get the Adapter Board, Plug & Play kit, and LED Voltmeter for FREE. It might help if you think of that way.

For those of you who are learning more about the Koso RX series, watch my installation video:

Link to original page on YouTube.

You can view the special order page at my website below. Once we have enough members (at least 5) committed,
the page will be unlocked to complete the checkout/payment process. At this great price I'm expecting at least 10:
http://racetechelectric.com/i-937735...voltmeter.html

If you are committing to purchase, please post your forum name here. The next guy, please copy and add your name to the list. As soon as we have at least 5 members committed, the page will be unlocked for payment to lock in your deal. We are expecting at least 10 to purchase at this price.

If you have any questions, please post here, or contact me:
evan@racetechelectric.com
760-476-3514 office

I got in on the first one but couldn't add an adapter plate. How much for an adapter plate? If anyone ordering doesn't want theirs, I'll take it.

Glad to have you guys in! CZroe, what do you mean by adapter plate? Are you talking about the mounting board that the gauge attaches to? If so, it is included in this group buy. I will update my post with pictures of the individual components that are included.

This is the mounting board that IS included:

Yes, that's it. The thing is that I already bought my kit from you but could not get one of those added to the order at the group buy price before the end of the group buy.

OK I understand now. Yes I remember the first group buy, and that was a problem. We had really just started working with the Koso Ninja RX kits and didn't fully understand the components. That led to the problem of not really requiring people to get the mounting boards even though it was necessary.

I'll see what I can do to help you out. Give me a call at the office tomorrow.

That's the main reason why I really simplified this group buy. I'm making it all inclusive, with all the parts you need to completely replace your stock gauge cluster with the Koso kit. I'm not offering individual pieces in this GB, it's for the whole package so there is no confusion or problems.

Do either of these gauges have a dedicated FI light for displaying error codes and such, i'd hate to be riding around for ages not knowing my bike is telling me it's poorly.

Also, I have the temperature gauge insted of the fuel gauge, will either of these gauges display the engine temperature?

Thanks for the questions. Neither gauge has an FI warning light. However both display coolant temperature. They come with a temp sensor that installs in your radiator hose, making for a very accurate temperature measurement.

Looks pretty good on the '08-12 Ninja 250s. Love the big tachometer compared to the original 08 one. However, has anyone done an install on the pre-gen '88-07 Ninja 250s?
Thanks, Tony

Well, it was a good thing you were offering it without because I was buying it for my EX250F which wouldn't need the plate (needs custom mount) but now there's a good chance I'll be using it on my EX250J instead. Thanks.

I'm sure they'll take it back. She'll understand! You need a new gauge for your bike now, you can get married anytime! haha

Where did you hear this? I'm not aware of the fuel gauge not working with these? It worked great on the bike I did the install on in the video above? Any info on this, I'd love to hear more about it.

It's a shame, if it were fully compatible with the european ninjas with a fi light or even a spare light on the dash and if I didn't have to install a second radator temp sensor as I don't want to cut into my radiator system when it's still under warantee I would have got it.

Ya I'm sorry to hear about the FI light. The gauges are not designed with one. It wouldn't be too hard to add a separate LED for FI light to the dash plate though. I could look into doing that.

I'm kind of surprised at the response so far, I thought I'd quickly have at least 5 people in on this. I'm hoping we get there before the end of the month though, I'd really like this to go through. The ninja kit is an excellent upgrade for those bikes.

That's my experience. On the install I've done the gas gauge on the Koso unit works perfectly.

My gas gauge never goes to 100%, more like 80% but when you riding along a flat stretch of road it will show correct down to the last 10% bar and when that goes blank you have about 30-40 miles to find a station. There has been a few time when it showed me lower then what I was actually at but never the other way around so you may feel up early once in a great while but it won't leave you stranded on the side of the road.

This is one of my favorite mods I've done to my bike(even at full price) and if you follow my bike mods you know I've got a few.

@CycleCam303 you should get in on this

Sigh... I am disappoint.

Still hoping folks line up for this deal. Though, this money could simply go to getting leather pants and track time so no biggie I guess.

Thanks for putting together such a simple package on a common/desired upgrade. I'm just not able to drop $340 on anything right now...

Such is life when you do your taxes on Feb 1. Now all the $$'s spent and gone.

I understand guys, I know it's fairly expensive. Nothings cheap in this economy, every dollar counts. I'll tell you what, I'm fine with extending it. I'll keep this group buy collecting members through April. As soon as we hit 5 members committed, I'll open up the payment form. At that point, it will be up to the 5 members how much longer they'd like to keep it open. If they want to close right away and get the order on the way, then I will. But if they'd like to wait around to help out more guys, then I'm fine with that too. So we're still live! Ignore the end-of-March deadline, I'll update the thread.

Might as well add me to the list. I won't have the money for about a week or two but I definitely want one. I have no problem adding a separate LED for FI once i add that in. Now I'm just hoping two others take advantage of this extension.

I just updated the thread above to reflect our new timeline waiting for committed buyers. Glad to help guys. Also, I'm not sure about compatibility on pre-gen bikes. I have not done an install on one, and't comment. Has anybody compared the connectors and wiring harness on these bikes? I would like to know the answer too.

Can I ask a really stupid question?

I like this idea and love the digital gauge but I also like knowing what the actual miles on my bike is.

If you do switch out the gauges, do you just mentally keep track of the difference, or is there a way to preset the new odometer to be what the mileage is before installation? That's the whole reason I haven't wanted to change mine. :-/

(but now with this open through April I might be able to find some money lying around.)

You cannot program the odometer, that I'm aware of. You basically have to keep track of the mileage difference. They don't want them to be programmable since you could falsify or turn back mileage that way I guess.

I heard that if you send your gauge into Koso they will program in your current mileage. When I bought mine I only had 1500 miles so I didn't care.

Wayanlam posted a while back about this. He put magnets on the blades of a small desk fan so it was still balanced, then ghetto-rigged the Koso so it read the 'mileage' from the spinning fan. Then he left the fan running for about a day and a half to get the proper reading.
