Ninja 300 Break-in Part II: Take it to the Track

So with only 100ish miles on my 300 I took it to the track. A ****ing awesome track, a track that makes chuckwalla look like it was made for hotwheels

Yea I'm talking about Infineon rac... err Sears poin... uhh Sonoma, yea lets go with that one, Sonoma raceway. Over 160 feet of elevation changes = fun.

The forecast for the weekend was rain, more so on sunday than saturday and damn let me tell you so many people pussed out on sunday because they didn't want to get their vaginas wet. There were less than 50% of riders on sunday than saturday which means wide open track. It rained a little on saturday but not a lot. Still, it was enough to make 7 people crash in B group in one session.

I feel like I rode a lot better at this trackday than any of the others, dunno why, maybe because the 300 is a ****ing awesome track bike? Or maybe because Sonoma is fun as dick.

I met a 250 and 650 rider on saturday. I set the 250 guy up with a gopro and we chased eachother around which was pretty fun. He was also running IRCs and a huge pair of balls.

Sunday it rained quite a bit, I think there was 1 session with a dry track. Lots of people crashed, pro tip, when it starts raining, slow the **** down. Ton of people passed me as it started pouring and then I passed them later as they had smashed into walls.

Pic time?

Track day ended at 300mi exactly

So my gopro 3's memory card got corrupted on saturday. I only have one session recorded on it but it was my best session out of the bunch. I have the rear view vid but thats not as fun to watch without a front vid. The session I had of the gopro 3 I also had @RmRiots, the 250 guy I met, chasing me with a gopro so at least it made for an interesting video.

I'm still putting together another video that will show case passes crashes n cool **** which I should have uploaded tomorrow

Critique is welcome

Youtube says processing "/ dunno when it'll finish

This is the camera I stuck on the other Sean

Nice break in, I think mine had around 150 for my first TD on the tree hundred. You seem to be a taller guy which I can relate to as I'm sitting in the 6'5"/6"ish neighborhood. Guy following you is pretty slow so not sure how your full charge cornering is but I would say you need to get your upper body down more. I struggle with it being taller but have found less lean angle getting my torso down more. Really wish I had the time to get up there and hit those tracks. Looks like so much fun.

Good way for the hard break in method lol. How's the stock suspension on the 300 at the track?

Doable but garbage. Your biggest problem is gonna be lean angle.

Disclaimer, I'm around 240 pounds with gear on so results may vary.

Had a brand new Ninja 900 with zero miles to break in at Pocono one year.

Had a brand new FZ750 with zero miles to break in at Willow Springs one year.

Both were right out of the box.

Run practice, change oil, race.

Looks like fun! Man, that's a beautiful track. Jiggles, you're on the stock rubber too?

Some nice lines in there. You kept a quick enough pace that the Street Triple behind you decided to follow you instead of going for the hero pass.

Yea got the Rosso 2s on there

I'm not great at BP but what was cool about this trackday is they had instructional classes after every session. After doing the BP class I started pushing my leg out a bit and trying to lean over more. The farther I go the more uncomfortable I get though so I wouldn't lean off the bike much.

The 300 stock is awesome for the track. I put some rearsets on and that will probably be my only mod for a while

It comes with time and experience. Then it becomes second nature. Just enjoy yourself and don't crash when you're at the track (or on the street).

Looking but WTF? Where are the power wheelies?

Did you get much riding in while it was very wet?

Riding in the wet is like lane splitting through stop traffic at 50mph, you don't dear blink or breath because you know at an second something is going to happen and you'd best be ready.

That's it. We're taping a taco to your wrist. Then you'll have incentive to get your head down in turns.

It makes me uncomfortable though! I think next trackday I'll take it really easy and work on getting comfortable with BP

The head makes you uncomfortable? Dude it's the knee that makes me uncomfortable. Just work on moving your head and shoulders around as you look through through turns. You can do that on the street.
