....so what else would I do but go record videos of the roads that I ride on?

So, I finally was able to get video that didn't look like it was shaking all over the place or sound like coins in a metal can.... so I did a quick and dirty job of editing and putting in some music.

Crossing the double yellows in the dark, on a turn? Tsk tsk...

Yup, that was a major

up. At least it's better than the first time I took this road and dropped it right on the 10mph right turn into the 7% grade. (Engine stalled out because I was taking the hill at a too high of a gear.)

that camera picks up the light really oddly. is this early morning or evening? also what's that light on the right side of your dash where the turn signal light usually is?

Early evening. (8:45pm)

This camera doesn't do too well at night, but that's okay.... it's to be expected.

If you're talking that bluish light, that's my radar detector.

That's about the time it starts to cool off - I hate riding in the heat of the day with gear on. Radar detector could be useful at night.

Some pretty nice videos about what speed were they at? Just curious if the camera becomes less stable at speed.
and i was wondering what kind of radar detector do you have?

The speed limit on Lime Creek Road (excepting the small part at the beginning)
is 40 if I recall correctly. I was pretty much going around 40 except the parts where I was passing the Harleys. For that video, there are two problems with going faster:

1. Going 50-60mph on that road is inviting yourself to be removed from the gene pool
2. The camera was mounted on my helmet. I've tested the camera on the highway at 65mph and I tend to get a little bit of "head whiplash" depending on the direction of the wind. I'll probably use this camera mostly for twisties recording.

The radar detector is a Escort Passport 9500xi. I did have to buy the direct-wire cord separately, but this will direct-wire fairly easily to the battery with some post connectors and solder. (Stupid 18 gauge wire.) I didn't use a relay because I'm taking this with me when I'm away from Aria....

put the go pro on setting 3 for video then go to spot..it will have better forward vision and it's more light sensitive..setting 3 is 720p but 60fps..super crisp and good res and lighting/color.

placement is also key. do you have the different housings as well? closed/watertight housing is best for speeds of 25+ mph

great videos!! what are you using to edit?

I'm using the closed housing on this one. I'm going to wait until the weather is a bit less windy and cloudy in the morning and take a video of me going down that road in the opposite direction.

I was using iMovie on my Mac to edit this, because I didn't feel like trying to set up AviSynth on my PC to do it.

Yup. Unfortunately, around this area, it's starting to lose its effectiveness as the cops are starting to use laser instead.
