From my experiance they seem to be a bunch of insecure weirdos that need the constant reassurance of other insecure weirdos, and they all have something to prove.

It takes the bigger man to avoid the gangs and do his own thing, that's kina the ethos of many ninja 250 riders, comfortable and secure and content.

Not a member of any gangs or clubs but do consider myself a member of a group that shares similar interests and goals in riding.

Unregistered is a member of the ninjette gang. ijs

One time, at the mall, some guy came up to me, scrutinized me and my bike, and then said "Who do you ride with?"

I looked at him, made crazy eyes and whispered "I ride with Jesus!!!"

He just kept on walking...

Good answer
I shy away from riding in groups. I rode bicycles in a club for a long time. There is nothing worse than being run into by some stranger that just bought a bike and all the gear and can't ride.

The word GANG usually has a bad ring to it where as CLUB or GROUP seems to not have that sour taste...at least around here in GA it doesnt. I know many clubs from motorcycles to cars to RC airplanes to golfers. Like someone mentioned, birds of a feather flock together. What may just be just a few people with like interests getting together, others may view as something bad. This weekend I met a great bunch of fellow NINJETTE.ORGers and we rode together. I posted pics of our FUN and SAFE and FRIENDLY ride on Facebook to show a couple of my friends and family and you would be surprised how some people reacted..."I didnt know you were in a biker gang" - "I cant believe you hang out with other crotch rocketers" - "OmG you gonna kill yourself" - and other stupid $H!T like that. Its all about making smart decisions that make you happy. If its all about getting into trouble and being in danger or endangering others, find a better gang, or club, or group! If your gang or club or group is a bunch of guys and gals getting together to have fun in a safe and legal manner then cool man! Join it up and have fun!!!

I ride with a group of motorcyclists all the time. Occasionally we have 40 or so bikes and I'm real close with many of them. They are my brothers. Some are patched members of Hellfighters, but I never joined up. In all reality, I don't need a patch to define myself as a motorcyclist. Actions speak louder than words anyway.

In my opinion, MC's arent worth the time, money or frustration of dealing with the political BS. It's a gigantic headache, and sucks the fun out of what should be a really enjoyable activity. Most people join a MC for one of two reasons.
1. They want to feel like a badass with a patch on their back.
2. They want camaraderie with a bunch of fellow bikers.

In the first case, you need to check your ego, and just go ride the bike.
In the second case, you don't need a MC to have a bunch of brothers that ride.

My advice. If you want to have a bunch of friends to ride with...ask for riders around you to get together and go for a ride. Then go make some friends, and ride together all the time. And when you do, dont just go ride, get involved in some community stuff. Like feeding the homeless, or something.

Yeah I just need someone to ride with to show me the ropes, Im 18. Not many 18 year olds ride where im from. I Have 2 jobs and im in school to be an engineer, and I have a little boy. If I find a mc just to go to hang when I have free time or on the weekends at least that just likes riding without the trouble, ill consider it.

If you ever do join one, one piece of advice. Always keep your voice, most often the one that speaks up against stupidity can change or influence people to not do something stupid. Sometimes groups of individuals can forget what is morally right or follow the wrong persons idea of what is fun. If it's the type of club that requires you to become a striker, don't bother speaking up just get out (unless that's your thing).

Yup. Its all about the schedule. And that he is 2 weeks old so cant do much.
Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays are-
Spend time with my son from around 2pm until work> Work 11pm-4am (monday nights)
Wednesday days im free to do whatever, until about 8 go see my son then go to work.
Fridays free until work. Usually go see my son.
Saturday mornings to Monday Night im free! Usually I go see my son randomly during the weekends

Tuesdays and Thursdays-
Work 8am-2pm School 5-8pm Work 11-4am (cant see my son)

AND before you say, no I dont sleep much. I dont need it, Ive learned to live off the bare minimum and also take random naps.

Usually I sometimes go riding with my grandad and but his 1200 Harley and my uncles 1400 Harley soundlike a monsters down the road makes my 250 sound like a golf cart or something lol.

lol Not just to drink with to ride with. I can drink with my friends and being 18 and having a kid has nothing to do with it. Im not throwing my life away or abondoning my son. Im doing everything the right way, and not getting into trouble, going to school and taking good care of my son. Im going to have my fun time on or off of my bike. Im not going to stress about work and school all the time.

School, work, and more importantly a kid? Nows not the time to get drunk and party.

You seem to be trivialising the notion of asking people what that think of you joining a motorcycle "gang" for the purpose of underage drinking because you want to? Sorry buddy but what you want will have to go on hold now for the next 16 years.

May I suggest finding other people with kids for "playdates" they are as much a chance for the kids to play as for the parents to socialise, these will be your friends for the next 16 years, these will be the people that you will ask favours and will ask favours of you, these are the people that will get your son in a good school or babysit the night you have to work late, these people will be your gang from now on, that's the right way. Your time is finite, despite how little sleep you profess to need, you can build foundations or potter about, and ultimatly you need a firm footing.

Most of them are lame. More into going out and getting drunk and crap like that. They're not motorcycle ethusiasts. No canyons or tracks - just meets and party and most of them can't ride. There's a group in LB and I've only met them once and I could tell right away they weren't nice people. They have fast bikes but they can't lean for ****. My coworker is a member and always trying to recruit me and my other coworker. I went riding with a couple of the members once and left them in the dust on my 250 in the twisties.

When I think of a motorcycle "gang", I imagine a bunch of rowdy 250 Ninja riders, jacked up on soda pop, tired of being inside playing video games, ready to take to the street and terrorize the neighborhood dogs. Hoodlums in full race gear buzzing along at 35 (no 40 mph) on the verge of crashing, but not caring because they can always post the video and be part of the notorious "crash club" on the forums.

would rather ride with friends any day than ride with a "gang" just because you belong in the same gang doesn't mean you guys get along. For example, that coworker I mentioned who is in a motorcycle group, there are other members who wants to hurt him bc they don't get along -____- I ride with friends or I ride solo.. a lot more fun in my opinion... without the retarded mandatory meetings haha so gay

I'll consider it when I'm middle-aged. Buy a cruiser, ride around and strike fear into the local suburban neighbourhood.

Link to original page on YouTube.

Ugh, ok so maybe not...

Get a knee down, get some insurance, and more importantly get some responsibility. Don't worry though man, it's easy to ignore the people who want to help you. Link in the sig

Congrats on the birth of your son
Only 2 weeks old, enjoy every minute you can with him because it will go so fast & he needs your support more than you know.
Get responsible & let yourself have the best ride of your life.

In the Motorcycle World there are two groups. One is Associations and the other is MCs. Associations are The AMA, United Bikers of Maine, Patriot Guard Riders, Legion Riders, and Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) Some are regional, like United Bikers of Maine, and others are national.

Generally Associations don't associate with MCs. There are MCs that are 1%ers, and many are involved with crime--examples like the Hells Angels, Outcasts, Sons of Anarchy come to mind. They have vivid patches on their vests (Colors) and if they are 1%ers have diamond shaped patches and rockers. These people have turfs and will confront someone in their territory wearing different colors.

Some areas of the country--parts of PA, have "No Fly Zones"

Not all MCs ate 1%ers. Vietnam Veterans MC, Gerry Owens MC, and some others come to mind.

There are brand clubs like The Gold Wing Group, Harley Owners Group, Honda Owners Club, that are a totally separate entity.

Some Associations are strict. CVMA, which I belong to will not allow you to be a member of an MC, display any patch on your vest that is diamond shaped, or shaped like a rocker. CVMA does a lot of work with Veterans and the membership requirements are very clearly delineated. CVMA members can belong to any association they want to. Membership in an MC will terminate CVMA membership.

I hope this clarifies an often confusing topic.
