Thanks!

Yeah, I didn't understand it either. I was just copying the statue I saw. It was like that on the statue itself. Weird. LOL

I didn't see this post.

That was my first time ever really messing with watercolor. I have sold that piece, and I have a request for another.

Do you take requests for subject matter or ideas? How are you at animals, specifically pandas or tigers?

My painting skills are getting a bit better. It is weird to "think ahead" on brush pressure, angle, etc. Still, fun to learn!

It's been a while since I've been here and MAN you've really improved! I'm really liking your paintings and watercolors. This thread makes me want to pick up my pencil/pen again. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks! Just yesterday I went through a sketchbook that I used this time last year. I was floored at how far I have come. I was even more floored that I used to think those drawings were good. LOL

I may go through it again and see if I know who I was drawing back then. If I can figure it out, I may take a stab at it so I can have a comparison. One year and tons of drawings can make a big difference.

Another request.

There is a kid who is constantly sending drawing requests on instagram, so I probably won't draw him. It isn't he is spamming really, he just asks any artist he can find. He is young, so I think it is just "cool" to him.

Oh to be young! lol

This was it done. For a request, I'm not going to push to get it looking really good.

I LOVE to sketch. It helps keep my eyes tuned in and my lines loose. Still trying to get a more flowing style, so that is why I sketch so much instead of doing actual finished drawings.

I WAS going to make this a finished drawing, but I decided against it. The proportions are incorrect. I just was sketching and tried to turn it into a good piece without any thought. I know better. The simplistic style was supposed to be for markers or watercolor, meh.

hey mark, could you draw a picture of me, winning the olympic gold for figure skating pairs, with chewbacca. dressed in colonial attire and chewy wearing native american skins and feathers. also, crying women to the side would be great.

So nice to see you branching out from the nude girls etc.

LOVE the watercolour landscape with the trees reflecting. Hardest to do correctly and easiest to sell. I also like the architecture exploring with the fireplace. I collect antique watercolours of both subjects.

Have you got a proper museum/gallery near you? Please go look at the watercolour collections. You'll be so inspired!

Love the bunny too, movement and personality. Nice.

Thanks!

I am trying to work towards different goals now.

I still draw a lot of figure studies. I really enjoy it. It keeps the pep in my art step so to speak. I draw what I like and it helps keep my eyes and hands working properly. I do like to branch out. I've been looking at tons of paintings lately. I love how a generic brush stroke can speak so much based on how and where it is utilized.

There is so much to learn.

I've also been doing more photography. I may post up some of that on here as well. You know, since photography is really an art (something I never really paid attention to in the past).

I am currently enrolled in an 8-week photography course. I am starting an acrylics course this week (8-weeks long).

My last course, another photography course, but focusing on lighting, is still up in the air. Only 3 people, including myself, are enrolled. I don't know what the minimum enrollment is to have the course. I guess we shall wait and see.

I have also been tossing around the idea for a watercolor course. Time will tell. And yes, we have an excellent art museum here in Houston. I have been there to sketch statues and images in paintings. I didn't go to look at watercolor. I may need to spend a day up there and bring my camera.

Oh, and this may be a stepping stone to going back to school. My wife mentioned my possibly chasing after a masters degree in art/photography. I may be down with that.

My mother-in-law's dog:

Here are some photos I took for class homework. I'm actually a week ahead on the assignments. This is for our "motion" lesson homework for next week. The weather was so nice, I went ahead and started shooting earlier.

I just got an email from my Acrylics instructor. One day to gather up all the supplies for the course. LOL

Wow fantastic! You can make a living off art. Not necessarily the stereotype Gallery artist but there's sooo many options. Stay with the motion photography too. Any kid's soccer field is a wonderful income source and the clients are very easy to get along with. Ask your teacher about release forms to keep everything legal and if you want to do kids/sports to keep money in your pockets, get a police clearance just so it's there and available for parents. Doesn't cost much but these days it helps to have that extra safety-edge that other photographers may not think about.
People LOVE good pics of their cars and bikes especially ones with a bit of personality.
I 'rent' my gardens out to artists, sometimes they buy my paintings while they're here. It's all another drop in the bucket for the mortgage.

Just keep in mind that your future customers can see your posts and FB page, use those privacy settings! I never publicly post my creepy drawing or my sweet old lady customers would have a fit.
So nice to see someone so enthusiastic, lol! You've also got a supportive wife, what could be better?

I'm just about to list some goodies on ebay that I got at an auction for next to nothing. I know the artist and what they sell for but the auction house didn't and the other bidders didn't. Why? Fine Arts schooling, lol! See? Art pays. :-)
