Thumbs up Chuckwalla May 31st

In an effort to keep up with my "one track day a month" goal, I've signed up for a Chuckwalla track day on May 31st with TrackDaz. Really excited to ride on this track as I've heard it's the best track in So Cal. We shall see...

As always, would love to see fellow Ninjette members out there so if you're going, holla!

Awesome!!! I'll be there. I'm part of Trackdaz staff. Look for a Green and White Ninja 250 that has AP Moto Arts on the side. Race number 312.

I'll be sure to say hi to you as you register and or get your bike tech inspected.

Also keep in mind that it's a Beat The Heat Schedule so track goes active at 7am

Matt

I go there often enough - hit me up for some tips and Matt (above) for some better ones

Bring more water than you think - freeze the bottles the day before! Plan to chug one bottle every hour or so... it's retarded hot. Also can help to go hop in the showers with your suit on before you ride to help cool you off.

You go there often enough but are you going on the 31st???

Maybe we can ride P.V. sometime before the track day and I can pick your brain for some riding tips??

Common... 117 degrees w/ 98% humidity is great riding weather. We skipped the warmers that day and just let the sun heat the tires. lol

Sound advice right there. There is also a thread on this forum for keeping cool for the really hot months. One critical thing is not just water but replacing electrolytes lost. I actually drink homemade pedialyte. Has never failed me. The shower with your leathers on...or dousing yourself with cold water before zipping up your leathers helps quite a bit.

ABSOLUTELY!!! That's what I am there for. Please pick my brain. I would suggest you attend the New Riders School (its free) and I actually might be one of the staff members running it. You will also see other staff members in the New Riders School such as Tania, Erwin, Gil, and Dave "Teaspoon" Martin

If you're riding in that kinda heat, you have to start 2 or so days before hand. You need 3 major things;

Salt - to retain water
Water - hydration
Potassium - muscle soreness prevention, choose a source, bananas, oj
Electrolyte drinks - temp boost of potassium and fluids when tired, choose your favorite source

Thank you, that's great advice. I usually stay indoors with the A/C on full blast when it's that hot so I have no idea what to expect!

Do I have to sign up for the New Rider School in advance?? I'd love to take that!

Nope just walk in to the classroom area after the riders meeting.

If Matt isn't teaching in the school I recommend talking to Erwin, though they are all great guys and teachers. Erwin taught me a lot and is very patient - he helped me a great deal when I started out. His enthusiasm is ridiculous!

Keep shaded at all times if you can. The sun out here can cook you up quick. Maybe even a nice big hat...like something you would wear to the horse races.

Nope, but during Riders Meeting Erwin usually announces anyone taking the New Riders School to head over to the classroom.

As Max said....UNFORTUNATELY :-(...I JUST found out today that I have a MANDATORY EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION that weekend for work (we are being merged) that I have to attend...so I won't be making it for the weekend after all. As Max said, talk to Erwin. He's the head instructor for the New Riders School. Of course there are others too that you can speak to. If not, maybe Tania will be there--as well as instructing New Riders School. She is also Trackdaz staff and she also rides/races a Ninja 250. She could help you out.

Luckily, but it did happen a couple times at CVR. The most memorable was when it rained like crazy where it was like an inch of rain on the ground in the pits. Then it stopped and the sun came out in full force. It created so much humidity it was unbearable. You couldn't breathe and everyone was sweating like crazy. It did dry up the track rather quickly. This happened in October 2010.

Sooooo.....I ended up cancelling my Chuckwalla track day

Going to do Big Willow on June 7th instead. I definitely want to do Chuckwalla but perhaps it'd be a better experience once the weather cools down a bit.

Go to buttonwillow may 31. Me and my 250 buddy will be there.

Max may remember me from back in September at buttonwillow.

Not sure yet. I've been down for a while and am now looking to have my frame finally straightened after 2 years. After that I need to put the bike together and hit the track to test out the straight frame/new motor I just got.

Working out plans now and will let you know
