What's the deal with the adjustable levers?

The stock lever feels great. Bought these from a member a year or two ago. Started to install the brake and it doesn't feel or function correctly.

First off. The lever itself has 2 bolts and both are right. The OEM bolt is tight
The lever at the furthest setting works but feels loose.
The closer I move it to the hand grip the worse it feels
Also the closer I move it to the grip it doesn't keep contact with the brake light switch. You can't hear click off unless you hold the lever at a certain angle

Are these junk or am I overlooking something ?

Didn't bother with the clutch lever yet

Thanks

Possibly the answer is if the stock feel great then something different won't!
I love my adjustable shorty' sand they let anyone else that rides my bikes adjust to suit their preferences. But; if you're happy with stock then don't change them! Sell them and get the farkles you really want! Like a track day!

I have these same levers Bob. Not sure what is going on with your install but mine feel great for both street, track and race usages. Would you like further help with installing these or will you be reverting back to stock?

I can tell you for sure, the feel is 100% lighter and yes... it will seem loose. But the non functioning brake light switch and the lack of "click" sounds concerns me.

At this point I have witnessed 2 crashes due to faulty front brake lever installs. Do yourself a favor and take caution that everything is right before riding.

Let us know if you need anything.

Interesting...

Took 2 minutes to swap out. I put the stock levers on until I can sit down and figure it out.

I know how it's supposed to feel as I have also used these before on another bike.

No way am I going to use these until I feel comfortable with them.

Also found my box of steel braided brake lines from that group buy a while back.

Guess I have some catching up to do

I have the cheap eBay levers (looks just like these as well) on all the bikes and haven't had any issues. Make sure it has full travel, make sure it hits the MC the right way....etc etc

Well if you guys are sure these are not junk I will take a second look at it tomorrow.
Honestly I only spent about 15 minutes messing around with the brake lever. I brought the bikes out for the first time , changed the oil and found my levers in a part of my book bag I never check.

Also the closer I move it to the grip it doesn't keep contact with the brake light switch. You can't hear click off unless you hold the lever at a certain angle

I had the same problem. I ended using the stock lever for front Brake.

It's a hit or miss when ordering from two wheels.

Friends with identical bikes, ordering from the same place, all seem to have them too tight, loose, or something funny.

I've been using levers from Pazzo on almost all my bikes for years. They're not the cheap levers. I've NEVER had an issue with any of them. They have always fit and functioned perfectly.

How are these working out for you now? A long while back there was a couple if incidences where the adjustables were shorter than the OEMS where they contacted switches.

Nope. Haven't used them. I don't feel safe with them installed and I feel as if the previous owner here knew that and passed the buck to me.
I could re sell them IF someone thinks they can make them work.
So I guess I just have to suck it up and consider it a loss.

I see the post 103/104 and hell I even posted in that thread too

Ill have to take a look at both OEM and aftermarket levers and do a comparison.

Update. As stated above - I have a junk lever. Why would someone here sell me these ? How can it work for one bike but not another ?

Looking at the ends of the levers, the OEM one has a longer "head" on it allowing full contact of the switch
The aftermarket one is shorter

Now both levers are not solid / tight. You can wiggle them up and down (probably so they don't bind up)
So the aftermarket one barely catches the switch at the tip of the "head". But as soon as the lever is wiggled it slips off leaving the brake light on

All I can do is keep the clutch lever - I thought about shimming the brake lever with a washer but it's too tight

Any ideas?

Also I tried to tighten the tiny Allen bolts on the lever but the bottom nut is recessed so far into the lever you can't get anything on it ? Wtf

My levers did the same thing on the brake switch. I just took my switch off and ground it down. I guess you could also sand where it mounts. No issues now for me.

That's the roll of the dice with Ebay/Chinese levers.

If you take your brake switch off, the plastic should be raised slightly (ridge) around the screw holes. You can just sand those off.....that might be all you need.

I prefer short levers on my bike, so that is the route I went.

I've had some similar to these and they worked fine after some moding. After taking a hair more material off they are good now. I like them alot, but I have noticed a big difference in tolerances between like levers on some of my other bikes. I had two sets of like adjustable levers on my xj and found one was more of a loose fit while the other was tight, and I would assume the same could be said about this style also. I do not think where ever they are made has a stict quality control.

So sanding down the brake switch didn't help. I had to file down the actual contact points on the brake assembly where the switch rests on it.

So far so good. Maybe I'll toss those braided brake lines on that I have from a group buy from like 3 years ago lmao

I took off material on the lever side, also check to see if the lever is pushing in the mc at all while it is not being pulled in. I had an issue with mine pushing the mc in just enough to not notice until the pads heated up the caliper enough to expand the fluid. Go out and ride, and check the lever now and then being sure it is n t getting to tight.

Yeah I checked it out. The MC side seems correct. The part that touches the light switch was the only issue

IIRC, I may have also ground the part where the switch screws to as well.....it's been a while. At least it is functioning correctly at the moment.

After a test ride - my foot was killing me. Unless it's unrelated but shifting requires a lot more effort. It's almost impossible to up shift
I tested the clutch adjustment in first gear front brake on. Tested the friction zone. Pull the clutch in about halfway and I'm free.
Test riding though- for whatever reason , it's really hard to shift.
I'm going to try to lube the cable and the shifter see what thst does. I wonder how that can help if when I pull in the clutch I'm already out if the "friction zone"

Fixed it , again. The new shifter decided to act up same day I did the levers. The bolt needed to be removed , cleaned and greased. All is good.
