Opinions on Rim Tape

I have a black Ninja 300 and I kind of want to get the red rim tape for it. I have never seen rim tape in purpose so I am not sure how great it looks.

So what do you guys think? Is rim tape cheesy or not?

i love my rim tape. i have a red bike and i put red tape on it. make sure you get the reflective kind tho otherwise it's slightly pointless in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of rim tape. It's too restricting aesthetically to me and busy looking.

I have the reflective red on mine and love it! I don't know if it will help, but it sure as hell can't hurt!

I agree that it looks tacky/cheesy BUT it's not that bad on the eyes.

I also agree that the reflective rim tape is just another item that will help you get noticed at night (and you can never have too many things that help you remain seen).

In most cases I don't even notice it on a bike.

I think a more suitable solution would be a black rim tape that is also reflective.

I have never seen this sold anywhere.

I dislike rim tape, I however like wheel decals that are "tastefully" done.

Would love to find some decals like this that says Ninja/250/Kawi.

I have not seen black reflective rim tape either but I have seen black bicycle rims that are reflective (Velocity makes them). I doubt they'd be popular since most individuals looking for rim tape are primarily after the look of a colored stripe on the wheel.

i have reflective red on my 250. I ****ed up the install and since i only got 1 extra, i had to make it count..and i failed with that one too.

..probably because i did not have a stand of any kind other than the kickstand .

Im highly considering taking the red tape off and going with the UV lightning taped to forks with the non reflective red tape (or some variation) to have the tron look. The thread is somewhere on here, just cant find it

Getting 1/8" rim tape isn't as "tacky"

My bike with silver and yellow reflective rim tape, 1/8"

I bought some purple rim tape that pretty closely matched the accents on my '96. It reflects a bright neon fuschia color. Not a color I am "into", but it is eye catching..and I will take any help I can get for being more visible, especially at night.

Reflective black rim strips ARE out there, I bought a tape kit for a helmet and reflective black was a major component.

http://www.tapeworks.com/Rimstripes/RimstripesHome.html has more colors than most people even consider.

It makes my 500 go from bland and boring to a pretty nice looking bike IMO. I really don't like the way it looks without it.
