Helmet jacked!

#@&#^!@&#%$^!$#@
Helmet was jacked from my bike at the parking lot. My seat cowl was broken too to get to my helmet. I'm now waiting for my wife to bring me my other helmet. What a sucky feeling. I've been leaving my helmet with the bike for a year now.

If you know what you're doing, a good thief can get the cowl off with a butter knife in about 10 seconds.

Someone should make an ink pack or something for the helmet...that way if someone tries to steal it it's ruined. You may have a ruined helmet, but at least they didn't get it.

How about a grenade strapped to the helmet, so that it pulls the pin when they try to take it.

then it would prob destroy the bike as well, not to mention the cleanup....

I hate thieves and always carry it with me. In fact, I'm generally nervous leaving the bike in the parking lot.

well, that what you get leaving it outside the strip club on a Wednesday afternoon. . . jk.
I generally leave mine if it is in a generally safe area. If its at a mall with idiot teenagers or something I will carry it but I do believe insurance covers the cost of it. Hundred bucks for the deductible sure beats cost of a new lid.

Sorry to hear, OP. I used my helmet lock daily for three years in San Diego without incident. I do remember arriving at Harbor Freight in Escondido and seeing another biker flipping out because someone grabbed his half-helmet off his cruiser (unsecured) and he had no legal way to get home. I made sure to bring my helmet with me that time.

The parking lot is multi-story with ample day light. I park where all the 3 motorcycles park and where people walk on by. This is a decent area, Kingstowne in Alexandria, VA although our office building parking lot is shared with a theater but I don't expect kids to be out here on Tuesday office hours.
Oh well.
I wonder if insurance will pay for it. I have $100 deductible.

i found a real intersting bag at a garage sale that i use for my helmet. it like a back pack but not really. its very odd. ill check out the brand name and what its actually for when i get get home from work today. it makes keeping your helmet with you less troublesome...you can just throw it on your back.

I only leave it at the bike if i'm not going to take long, can see it from where I'll be, or like if it's at my gym - I park right in front of the treadmills facing the windows.

I thought about how the helmet hooks on, and I said to myself, na that seems way too easy. I either just wear mine into the store like a fruit, or i suck it up and carry it. Nobody is stealing my awesome helmet haha
