Tail light

Does anyone know of any company that makes a led tail/turn unit for pregens?

Or am I going to have to make my own?

I'm unaware of any companies who make an LED tail light for the pregen. If you find anything, let me know.

I just put LED bulbs in my existing tail light housings, dual brightness for the center and single brightness for the two outers wired as extra brake lights.

The center bulb is dual filament in stock configuration, with about a 25/75% split in brightness. The new LED bulb is about 90% as bright on high as the incandescent bulb was, and it has more of a 40/60% split in brightness. However, the side bulbs are about the same brightness as the incandescent on high, and since the side LEDs are on/off instead of dim/bright the effect of brake lights is much more apparent.

LED's are great for the pods, like Frugal said.

If you're looking for a bright center brake light, use a 2357 bulb. Same running filament. Bright brake filament.

I am running these replacements in all three sockets. They are expensive bulbs, but they illuminate just as well as the incandecents and use about a fifth of the power.

It only needs resistors if it's flashing, like a turn signal, and uses a load-based flasher.

Sure, you can wire resistors in line with the turn signals.

The other option is to buy an electronic flasher that doesn't depend on load for flash rate.

I wired in two 1157 lamp sockets in the outside lenses & installed three - 13 section white LED 1157 lamps.

All three lenses act as both running lights and brake lights.

OBTW... while I was at it I removed the red plastic piece in the bottom and siliconed a clear piece of plexi in, which lights the license plate on the homemade fender eliminator.

Did I mention I paid $400.00 for this bike

Yup, old ZRX mod.
I'll soon transplant a pair of ZRX 3-wire front signals, using the wire from the now defunct license plate light to have front running lights. (red w/blue stripe I believe)

I believe in DOT spec lighting, there's a reason it's required...

IT WORKS.

I'm planning on doing my own DIY fender elimination this summer. I plan on leaving the tabs for the turn signals - I don't want to integrate them in the tail light. I do think that the pregen's turn signals are ugly as ****, so I may put new gen rear turn signals instead.

For the front, I got some flush mount signals that I will install and try to wire as DRLs using http://www.tobefast.com/customled-ma...er-pr-479.html

Of course, none of that may happen if I don't have any $

I got some dual 1157 LEDs that I plan to wire as running lights, brake lights, and turn signals as soon as I can figure out how to to kill the running/brake function while the signal flashes.

There was a thread a while back about using a brake controller like you'd use on a trailer.

Yep, and it comes really close but it still needs another relay or two to work exactly right.

Forgot to mention, move the turn signal stalk spacers to the inside of the fender.

Tightens up the rear
