Bad crashes

Long story short: my friends son neraly got killed and 3 months later is still on crutches.
I havent seen him but....having crashed bad myself ( not life threatening but thigh breaking) I gotta ask the cold question:
What did I, you learn ?
For me...it was simple...dont drink and ride.
What about you guys ?

After my accident with my gixxer - ride within your limits, pay attention to the road and always wear your gears. I was enjoying the scenery and next thing you know, accident

What is the fun in riding if you cannot enjoy the scenery but focusing on what is going on around you. The amount of stress would override any fun part of riding.
