Rearset help! :(

So I purchased a rearset from ebay after I "laid my bike down" at work in the parking lot. Anywho, after a painful discussion with the seller from China, he was unable to help me. Said it was all installed just like the OEM one and if I didn't believe him to "ask my local professional". So, after figuring it out myself I got them on. The issue now is on the shifter side it's really hard to get it out of 1st and 2nd. I really have to kick it up to shift. I only rode for 10 min today and my foot is killing me. In the pic you can see the rod is in the second position. I moved it to the 1st/front position.

Next, on the brake side, there's no place to put the brake light switch thing. I have no idea about that. I did get the little bracket that holds it on the OEM one and attached it to the back side of the bolt to the right of the "i" in Arashi. Any and all help is appreciated. I am a noobie so please bare with me.

P.S. The jacked up thing about this guy is when I asked for instructions and pics he sent me 2 pics of rearset adjusters (not what I ordered) and the 3rd was a pic of the Soto Racing rearset...can I say KNOCKOFF?!!!! (my 3rd pic)

For the brake lights you'll have to get the woodcraft brake pressure actuated switch. It replaces the bolt on your rear master cylinder.

Is there another hole behind the shifter?
It looks like the pivot point is too far from the adjustment rod.

No idea what that means. Sorry! Circles would help.

Nm just take off the left thing that goes on to the transmission shaft, and rotate counter clockwise about 90 degrees, then readjust the shaft. Should work.

Eta looks like 90 is too much, just rotate it until its good, its has a lot of adjustment.

I've never installed rearsets, but I think this is geometry/physics 101.

Know anything about vectors?

In order to transfer the maximum force to the A-B line, you have to have a 90'degree angle at the intersection. This is because force around a pivot point is tangential, and you are wasting most of the rotational force.

Look at the double-arrows in my pic. That is the angle of the rotational force you are applying. I'd bet that you could set it up like the bottom pic, and see much better results.

We are your "local professionals"

What is uncomfortable, the force needed to shift or the position of your foot?

Doesn't it feel different shifting into first and second?

Adjust it to look like so:

Here's a how-to That that details the install of the brake light switch.

Sorry for not replying...I got my woodcraft pressure actuator in today and will install it and readjust the shifter lever. I appreciate all the help and will update tomorrow. COD has been ruling my life.

Old thread - but... did this ever get resolved?
I got a set from ebay as well, seem to be having a shifter rod problem too. Thread on the linkage is wrong, so it won't screw in. Correct pitch and size, but wrong thread direction.

One end has a threaded insert, the other end has a ball joint. I flipped the insert around, one end has a small Allen socket in it, the other end is flat. Both have the same RH thread (it's the same thread). Tried it both ways, no luck.

Has anyone else had experience with the Arashi rearsets in the OP? I'm looking at getting a set myself but am a little worried about fitment but I also don't want to spend dump $400 rearsets down the track if I bin the bike.

Woodcrafts are only ~$200. Worth it to get the quality, IMO. I had no issues getting mine installed. You don't need the 'deluxe' kit. Just get the $200 kit and re-use the OEM shifter and brake pedal.

Vortex had what I was looking for, the only problem I've had with them so far is problems I created myself.
I like the quality of American made parts!

Usually when folks drop bikes with rear sets they only have to replace the cheap parts, if your worried about the linkage rod; folks sell those seperatly. It's just a threaded rod.
