Rock Store - rebadged for Raising Hope

When they pulled into the gas station, I had to chuckle. They changed the signs, but it looks like they left a motorcycle in as an homage. For folks who haven't been there, this is just a few miles down the road from that video-friendly turn where everyone crashes on Mulholland.

Watched the latest Roadies episode tonight. They pulled over at a "diner in Weed, California". Except it's the Rock Store in Malibu, at least in real life...

(apologies for the potato quality, used my kid's tablet sitting next to the couch)

That's part of the fun of living here in SoCal is seeing all the movie shoot locations in things. Pacific Coast Hwy, downtown L.A., beach scenes, many things show up in movies, tv, and commercials.

We are well used to seeing famous Vancouver & BC landmarks relocated to mostly US locations but also cities and vistas around the world! 😎

It's interesting to catch a glimpse into the nerve central of ninjette.org!

Last year I visited a buddy in L.A with some friends. The day after we went to the Santa Monica Pier, we were chilling in the hotel. Veronica Mars was on TV, at the scene where she was meeting someone on the Pier. http://laist.com/2013/07/03/photos_k...e_set_of_t.php

There have been a few movies made in MI where I recognized some things, but they tended to be hyped up as "Made in MI" things since it's not all that common here. This was my first major case of seeing something "standard" in a movie and saying, "Hey, I was standing there yesterday!" When you're not in Hollywood, it's easy to forget that the places you see in movies and TV are (usually) real places.

Having grown up in the suburbs of Washington, DC, I get a kick out of seeing a TV show that's set in the DC area, with big mountains looming in the background. And why do they call Silver Spring, MD "Silver Springs" more often than not?

One of the things that entertains me about living in L.A. is how often locations here show up in movies and tv. And commercials.

It is always fun to spot locations you know. My sister's house was used in a TV show years ago. Most of what you see is a studio (so they have proper lighting) but even a glance at something familiar makes you smile like you're part of it.

I bet Hollyweird was beautiful back in the early days before smog.

Cool! We were there on Black Friday. We were surprised by how few people were running the Snake.

I love it when I recognize a shooting location.
