different style connecting rod bolts?

So I got my four connecting rod bolts today for my 250 rebuild. But I got two of one style and two of another? They're both the same party number, but they look different and one style odds a little longer than the other. What's up with this, any idea?

New for me. I only am familiar with the lower one pictured and that's working with the 08+ and 300

I would not Use the top bolt. I am really funny about matching hardware when it does not matter. With things that spin at 13000 rpm I would want all four bolts to match and look like the lower one.

The top one looks like a stress fracture waiting to happen. I wouldn't use them.

what is the purpose for the inner spline? i tried to find info but couldn't find much outside of that its used for alignment and on some engines like the ls3 they use multiple thread sizes in the fastener to control stretch on the first few threads.. but these run the entire inner length? is it just alignment? they are forged and then machined right? so forging them that way makes it easier to machine them? seemed like it has something to do with controlling the stretch but i really couldn't find any info? :/

The flutes are rolled into the bolt. It makes them stronger and probably has something to do with vibration harmonics.
