PICTURES have emerged of a small-capacity naked BMW testing in Germany last week.

The water-cooled four-stroke single cylinder machine is thought to be around 300cc and will be the first model manufactured by the German firm after its tie-in with Indian manufacturer TVS.

The test mule reveals a single headlight unit, upside-down forks, alloy wheels shod with premium Michelin tyres, a single-disc front brake and a side-slung exhaust.

Likely to compete with KTM’s Duke 390 and Kawasaki’s Z300, the new model might be codenamed ‘K03’ after shipping documents sent from Italy to TVS referred to a ‘TVS-BMW K03’.

According to the photographer who took the spy shots, BMW will use the K03’s platform to build a smaller capacity version of its GS Adventure. He added: ‘But what I don’t know is if there will also be a mini RR.

‘But seeing that KTM is really successful with its RC390 and Triumph also developed a “Mini-Daytona” I think its very likely BMW heads into a similar direction.’
