DIY: Relocating the rear turn signals
Copied from the wiki
I found that in using my Cortech sport tailbags, the location of the rear turn signals kept me from mounting them properly. In order to remedy this, I chose to relocate the signals, as I wanted to maintain visibility rather than just removing the signals. The federal statutes state that the rear signals should be 9" apart at the center of the reflector. Perfect for me, mounting them on either side of the housing for the license plate light set them at exactly 9" apart from one another. My first step was to disassemble the rear of the bike and remove the tail section. This is covered in the DIYs on fender eliminators, so I won't get into that here. I have remarkably decided to keep my fender, and it came in handy for this mod. After disassembling the fender, I traced the base of the stalk on the side of the license plate light mounting point. I then took a drill to start the hole and used a Dremel to finish cutting them out. Then I popped in the rubber grommet that served as a mounting point. My last step was to reattach the signals and run the wires through into the tail section. Since there was a hole left where the signals had been, I took the red reflectors and attached them in that spot. We used a random washer we had sitting around to take up the space inside the hole and allow the reflector to be mounted without the bolt falling out of the larger hole. Here are a couple of shots of the finished product: (thanks Sunny!)

+1 Kim
That really makes the stock fender look good.
Kawi should've done it this way. |

I got some better pics of the tail today... they also show the LED bolts on the plate and the brake-light bar that I added.

does it look like I have it? While I organized the group buy, there were enough other folks who wanted one that I let them have it rather than keeping one for myself
