I felt really bad for the guy - knew he did a stupid thing and tried to warn others and everyone was being a jerk to him!

I thought the same thing when I read through the post the first time.

Everyone KNOWS it's potentially dangerous, but when the bike is on the stands like that, it just seems like such an easy simple way to do it. In his case, if I remember correctly, the bike was running, which is what made it so bad....but even just spinning the wheel with your hand can do massive damage.

The guy didn't do the right thing and was trying to use his mistake to teach others and everyone(most) on the thread just tore him apart. Some community they have over there...

I love how the first thing he does is grab the camera and take pictures of his profusely bleeding, mangled hand. Didn't even bother to try and stop the bleeding first.

Entropy is a bitch. I saw this thread before. It is sad and disturbing. I've also seen other instances like this on other threads. It won't be the last time someone does this, unfortunately.

Simple lesson here. Don't ever run your bike on its rear stand. In general, just stay away from moving parts when they are moving.

Someone who put NOS drink in their tank probably believes that the nitrogen in a shock is the same as nitroglycerin and will blow up if it bottoms out.

Yes, I saw it many months ago and even after seeing it I did something stupid.

It was on the rear stand and in gear after I had washed the bike. I noticed a spot I missed when drying under the left tail piece and wiped really quickly only to have the rag suddenly disappear... snatched right out of my hand! I forgot the wheel was even turning when I saw that spot that needed to be wiped, so it caught me completely off guard. I killed power to the rear wheel before it even finished going through the rear sprocket once and backed the wheel up to free it. No damage done, but all I could think about was that old post. Scary.

Dayum!
I have heard never run the engine while cleaning your chain. Never have..

Now I'll make sure the key isn't even in the bike while on the stands!
