bike won't crank!!
I have an 09, it was down for about a month now because I was waiting for parts and doing a whole bunch of maintenance.
I put all back together and now it won't crank...horn and turn signals work. I thought it was a dead battery and went out and bought a charger. I put it on and it supposedly charged pretty quick (charged light went from yellow to green). I put it back in still no crank. Now I've attached it to battery while in the bike and if the ignition is off is says fully charged after a few minutes but still no crank. But if I leave the ignition on then the charger seems to be charging..I have no neutral light or headlights...HELP. |

So, just to be sure, if you pull the clutch in with the kickstand up, it doesn't crank? Also, when you say "whole bunch of maintenance" what does that mean? Is there any way you disable or disconnected the neutral safety switch?

Check the voltage of the battery. Leave the charger on over night. http://www.ninjette.org/wiki/Battery

The bike should be turned off. If the battery fails to hold a charge, and voltage drops below 12.2 volts, get a new battery.

I just went to a shop and had him check out my battery, it seems fine he says. Any other ideas why it won't turn over?

First thing I'd do is figure out why there's no neutral light. Are you sure the bike is in neutral? Also, the headlamps won't be on until the bike is running.

I'm just as stumped as to why there is no neutral light... its definitely in neutral, I checked my fuses as well they seem to be fine.

Have you tried to shift between neutral and first and checked all the switches?

Found the problem!! It is the clutch safety switch #1 on 17-12 of the service manual. However I can't find where it plugs in...is it supposed to be behind the sprocket cover? The picture in the manual doesn't make sense.

It (Neutral Switch Connector) does sit behind the sprocket cover.

I don't think "Neutral Switch" and "Clutch Switch" are the same thing. One lets the bike start in gear when you pull the clutch lever while the other lets the bike start regardless of the clutch lever (when in neutral).
