How do i take off the mirrors?
I am disassembling in order to paint and am confounded by how to remove the mirrors from the cowling. So far, everything else is no problem.

D'oh!
I guess my eyes are starting to go. When I looked at the two nuts holding the mirror bracket on, they appeared to be the type connected TO the bracket, i.e., unremovable. THEY are what needed to be removed. NOT the mirror pivot bolt/nut/washers AND foam circle, which I already did?! |

I think he means the entire mirror assembly, not just the mirror itself. Those foam things are for the mirror and the stem, not the base plate.

oh the mirror mounting bracket thing is fun! Take off the whole front end and you'll see what needs to be done. Have fun!

i took off the whole mirror assembly after removing the fairings up front, if i remember correctly, the mirror assembly is fixed to the fairings, so when you get it off, by using a T wrench its easiest to open them up. since the bolts are on there quite tight, and there is some metal brackets that are really close to the bolts that get in the way of most normal wrenches.
its possible to also do it without removing the whole front faring assembly, but its a little fiiy.... and you might damage the farings or bolts. what you do is: 1st you need to remove the windscreen, 2nd then there is a bolt on the inside, that fixes the black plastic shroud thats around the Speedo (with an allen key) to a spot on the back of the mirror bracket. 3rd, you pry the black plastic and the friont faring apart, and you will see the bolts on the inside. you need to loosen those and then take them off. hope this helps, he he...
