I'm doing my carbs too!

You know the rubber rings on the vacuum side that connect to the plastic par that holds the needle and slides in?

Look at the hole it's going into, and the silver thing fits in there! (Underneath the plastic)

Let me know, I'm pulling my carbs out again later and I'll take pics if you need

Those collars(#160170) go in before you install the main jet holder things that the main jet screws into.

You can see the collars protruding out inside where the needle fits through.

Ok i got it all back together thanks for the tips. My bike is still idling high at 3500 rpm or it goes below 1000rpm. i got new fuel, ran sea foam, cleaned out air box filter, cleaned out the carbs that were already clean. and have played with the idle screw ( it either idles to fast or to slow when i try to adjust it) its an 07 bike with 12000 miles. maybe a valve adjust next? Maybe new spark plug? HELP

Well make sure your idle mix screws are set correctly and your carbs are synced evenly. If your turn the bars left and right the idle would change if your accel cable was too tight

I'd try turning the screws out at least a half turn though because it sounds like its lean. When you blip the throttle does it hang high then set back down?

It could be that it is lean. Also make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks.

Did you rejet the carbs? Change out the needles? intake mods? exhaust mods? More info you have the better we can assist you

The fuel mixture screws when set at 2.5 turns out will have the needle almost flush with the surface of the carb body. Usually 2.5 turns is a good starting point when tuning.

Valve adjustments are done at every ~7500 Miles. You're exhaust valves will always be on the tight end of clearances which will require you to swap in some thinner shims to bring it within specs.

There's a ton of info in the wiki about carb adjusting.
