New Michelin Pilot Street for the Ninja 250/300

Add another radial tire option for the 250 and 300 courtesy of the Michelin Man. Available in stock sizes for both: front 110/70 17 and rears in 130/70 17 or 140/70 17. There's also a bias-ply version available in more sizes to fit scooters. Michelin is especially touting it's longevity and wet performance versus the competition. Looks to be already available in Malaysia and some EU markets. No official word yet for release dates this side of the pond but rumour is that it will be available to US distributors sometime towards the fall.

any news on a 150/60/17 rear? If not I'll just have to stick with pilot powers...

Curious about this tire. Was thinking about the PR3 in 120/150 option but this may be better fit.

sounds good, too bad there's not a 100/90 & 130/90 - 16" size in the bias ply version to fit our pre-gen Ninja 250s.

No. Looks like the biggest size for the rear is a 140/70-17. Michelin specifically targeted and designed this tire to be compatible with stock sizes for bikes like the new gen 250, the 300 and CBR250 with smaller sizes in a bias ply version for scooters.

This gets brought up alot (and I'm sorry) but how bad are the Roadwarrior tires for everyday riding. nothing really hard, or track related.

Bought used and the bike came with stocks unused. Thinking about throwing them on since mine will run out this season. Is it really worth getting a different set. Looking for decent grip in rain and shine. (mostly shine)

Any news on a 130/80-16 rear in the bias-ply construction? I mean, I'm currently using Pirelli Diablo Scooter tires, it would seem logical to me that they'd make that size in this tire.

I want a harder rear compound tire that's not a 130/90-16 size because I don't like wearing down the centerline in 5500 miles.

They are fair enough for street pace.

Yup, I share what Chris just said. Fine for the street although depending on what you have on now, they will most likely feel like a downgrade. You might want to double check the manufacturing date on the side wall though. Given that your bike is an 2009, they could be 5 year old tires or close to that and popular opinion is that it's in your best interest to switch tires somewhere at that point.

I don't believe they do. Here's the link to the press release with official sizes.

I've been told by a dealer that the Michelin Pilot Activ are now discontinued in sizes for our bikes. Another clue that these new Michelin tires will possibly be available here in the near future.

The Pilot Street radials are now available here. I've seen one US online retailer listing the front at $112 and for the rear 130 size at $135 and 140 size at $142. Very positive rider feedback so far from overseas.

Is this the best tire for upgrade from OEM tires? I dont ride on the track, street only, but would like some good grippy tires for some twisties that I do here and also occasionally I hit rain so would this be the best tire for this purpose?

They just popped up on Revzilla's website available for preorder. Keep watching that page and scan the internet. Eventually more user reviews will show up. Even if they are only a slight improvement over the Pilot Activs, then that would be a positive since the Activs were very well regarded as sport touring tires.

Just checked the garage inventory, and realized I still had another set of Rosso II's to go through. Interested in trying these new tires out, but it's going to be awhile. Need to put some miles on the ninjette, me thinks...

That's awesome. Nothing like getting new tires. Did you go with a 130 or 140 rear? Please keep us updated on your experience with these tires .

Sooo I can get both of these for $235 shipped. Are they worth it for me?
I do have a 2010 with 2,030 miles on the stock tires.
I ride in the city and I occasionally in the country (mild twisties)

I'm looking for something that looks nice tread wise but will be leaps and bounds better than what I have now. The tires now are terrible in rain and always feel harsh and unreliable.
Thanks

Also everyone says go wider in the rear. I don't want to go wider without knowing the complications I'll run into

hmm, I'm looking into getting new tires in mid-late spring and I'm between the bridgestone BT45, Pirelli Diablo Rosso II, and these michelins

I need something that would be good for commuting, touring, and twisties, with 1-3 track days this year depending on how much more money a new job can bring in. It may be possible that I'll have a dedicated set of track tires or even a dedicated track bike if I get a waiter position at a solid restaurant.

it seems like no one has these yet on the site so I'll likely wait for a review since someone should have them before I need new tires.

130...just stuck with the OEM sizes. I definitely feel more confident on them in corners coming from the OEM tires.

I just bought a set to replace the original gt501s on my 2008. I have a 50 mile each way commute (probably 5k miles total this year, maybe more) so I will be able to report back on how they are holding up. My decision was between these and the bt45s and everything that I read lead me to the conclusion that radial should be a better tire choice. I do have a track day planned as well.

I will be really interested to hear your reviews on wear and performance, I am getting a bit closer to the wear bars on the IRCs for the commuter and am thinking about these guys.

They are a night and day difference than the stock IRC's, and with me riding in the winter cold with temps down as low as single digits these things have excellent traction and don't even hesitate jumping on the throttle or braking hard with them and still maintain traction.
They are well worth getting, i have only had mine for just a short time and with just less than a few hundred miles on them, they get a huge thumbs up.

I WILL never use the IRC tires ever again!

I figured that we could try to track the wear on these tires for everyone to have some data. I measured them new and the from has 5mm in the center and 4.5mm on the sides. The rear has 7mm across the while tire. I will try to track this as I get some miles put on this summer and see how it is doing.

I've had the Street Radials on my 300 for 3 months now. I'm really pleased with them. They give good feedback, nice soild front end, and good grip in the wet. Can't comment on longevity yet.

I ran DR2s on a previous bike. I think that the Michelins don't feel as light as the DR2s but perhaps a bit more stable after initial turn in, if that makes sense.
