Thumbs up Hello all

Hi there. long time lurker here from miami fl

Previous owner of a 2007 ninja 250. Current owner of a 2010 ninja 250.

Only been riding about 5 months total. still a lot to learn. Gotta say the hardest parts are downshifting and counter steering.

Currently planning on selling my 2010 ninja, buying another pregen and make a custom streetfighter build. Which is why i finally joined. going to make a thread to document my build. I know there's already a million and 1 threads about that but whatever I'll do it anyway. Mines is gonna be better. at least it will be with you guys help. Been researching parts and stuff but all I find is more questions haha.

Anyway its good to finally join. catch my build thread coming soon probably in that farkles section.

Build thread are always interesting, so don't hesitate. Here's my '05, but I call it a "standard", or an EX250S.

Welcome, here are just a few things to think about,

1.Get trained and licensed MSF Courses

2.ALWAYS Wear protective gear -- ATGATT All The Gear, All The Time -- including a helmet manufactured to the standards set by a government agency.

3.ALWAYS Ride unimpaired by alcohol or other drugs

4.ALWAYS Ride within your own skill limits and road conditions.

5.Be a lifelong learner by taking refresher rider courses, and advanced rider course A.R.C.

Thanks for the advice man.

Already took msf course its a must in florida to get your motorcycle license.

I gotta say though they don't prepare you for real riding. They don't really teach counter steering and downshifting.

At the end there is a disclaimer saying that the skills you learned are not enough for you to ride on the street and that you're not ready for the road yet.

Something I learned when I first rode my ninja on the street.

I was coming to an intersection and saw the light turn yellow. i knew i had time and it would be safer than stopping short. So i accelerated to try to beat it and the suv in the left lane accelerated at the same time and cut in front of me to make a right turn. I hit my brakes to avoid t boning it, lost control, fell on my right side and slid down the rode.

The suv sped off. I got up after a few seconds to asses the situation. Not 1 person stopped to help. Everyone started honking and yelling at me to get off the road. bruised and bloody from the fall i managed to pick my bike up and push it to the gas station on the corner. Got a bottle of water and sat for 15 minutes before deciding to get back on the bike and ride home.

Wasn't wearing gear just shorts and a t-shirt. Got road rash on both my knees and all up my right side from my ankle to my shoulder. the worst of it on my hip. The fall was nothing compared to the pain of cleaning my wounds that night with rubbing alcohol. Probably one of the worsts pains Ive ever felt.

Gotta say that fall taught me a lot and I'm glad it happened there at relatively low speeds and not on the interstate doing 75. Also that i didn't get road rash on my face.

Don't worry to much about the counter steering....if you've been riding 5 months and are still alive, your already doing it subconsciously, just work on doing it consciously to make quicker moves. Do your downshifts while our still moving a little...at a stop the tranny likes to hang and you may have to let the clutch out a little to finish engaging the next lower gear before downshifting again until you get to 1st gear.
