This is why I don't have a bigger bike...

Well the officer in the unmarked charger clocked me doing 105 on my '07 ninja 250. I was tucked so I didn't see him behind me, so he had to get in front with his lights flashing . Wrote me down going 85mph, he was shocked when I told him that it's a 250

Today I drove my car. Gonna be a bit before I can pull myself together to get back in the saddle responsibly. Good thing I don't have a bigger bike or else I would've gone even faster

I feel ya man. I was coming home from school today, had a early day, and I was doing my normal 20-30 above the speed limit. Cars around here pretty much stick to 65, so I'm blowin by them, when I came up on a Sheriff. I saw him about a mile ahead of me, so I got of the highway and took some side streets home.

Had I have been on a bigger bike I probably woulda just said F it and blew by his ass too.

Be safe out there! This, combined with what you wrote in the Bear Mountain thread about almost losing it on that hairpin following John, suggests that you're letting the fun get the better of you.

Say this 100 times the next time you ride:

This is not a race. I am on the road, NOT the track.

It's REALLY REALLY easy to ride unsafely, even on a 250. Too fast, too aggressive... and on a more powerful bike it's even easier.

You're young, still "indestructible" and have yet to learn true caution.

Think with the big head, not the small one. You'll live longer.

I have a big, powerful bike that can go 0-60 in under four seconds, bone stock. The bike can go God-knows-how-fast at the top end. I don't know and I don't care, because IT WOULD BE STUPID TO FIND OUT.

I have no problem riding as fast, or somewhat faster than, traffic regardless of the prevailing speed. Safety in numbers.... But winding it up and going MUCH faster than traffic is just begging for trouble. You found this out the hard way. Let's hope you don't have a repeat experience.

That guy John from last weekend's Bear Mountain ride? I was up front near him most of the time, and he kept on blasting ahead at high speed before stopping and waiting for the rest of us. Riding with a guy like that, I'm more than happy to let him disappear over the horizon. Let him be cannon fodder for the cops. He'll get the ticket. I won't.

Not quite, finding out the hard way would be dumping the bike going 100+

But I agree, completely. Bike or car, there's no reason to ever go 100+

In my defense, I thought he was going the appropriate speed... until 1/3 way into the corner past the hill lol

Yep, about 2 and 1/3 days worth of pay... my lawyer said to plead not guilty and said he could get it knocked down (as well as the other charge - not having my insurance card on me)... So i'll probably be looking at ~$600

Dude! You were going 105 on the WILBUR CROSS????

Non-locals: This is not an Interstate. It's a two-lane-in-either-direction divided highway that is not very wide and is loaded with very abrupt on-ramps in that area. Like... the cars pull up and stop, then have to bolt out into traffic.

Yep. Though you can't go that fast near exits... I've seen it done though

i don't want points and he knows the prosecutors up there. I'll play by the rules of the American Justice system: money is king

I'll probably still get points but it's worth a shot... imo

I disagree. Really, he got a $400 ticket for doing 105 in a 55, seems like a pretty SWEET deal to me

In CT traffic 25-40mph zones, this is truly the case. I always have to watch my mirrors at a light because some idiot is coming up behind me fast not looking in front of them...

Unfortunately I live in Southern CT so there's not too much of that around; God (if he/she exists) help if you go South on I-95 in the morning from New Haven or back up North in the afternoon. You'll be stuck with the people coming to/from NY and I worked in Westport for 9 months - lets just say it sucked big time in a car let alone a motorcycle.

the mexican irresponsible side of me says ey fool, next time spend 60$ on a radar detector and wire it in. 60$ now is better then 400$ all day long.

Nifty idea. They can detect radar detectors, no?

I live closer to the city than you do. I'm right off of the Merritt, exit 48 (Trumbull).

Yes, traffic sucks during rush hour. Other parts of the country are worse. DC, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago... all are insane.

Which is why I love the back roads... my commute can be really fun sometimes. I pass reservoirs, horse farms, golf courses, etc. etc.

Beats Florida, anyway.

What have they got that we haven't got?

Great beaches.

They also have no elevation change, few twisties but lots of alligators and giant atomic mutant flying cockroaches (Palmetto bugs).

I'll stay here, thanks.
