Kickstand safety switch

My kickstand safety switch seems to have stopped working correctly. It's a 2009 ninja 250 and yesterday it was working fine, but I washed my bike and it seems to have stopped working. It's just that when I put the kickstand down in gear the bike doesn't turn off like it's supposed to. What do you guys think could be the cause of this, and is this something I should even bother fixing?

The pin is not moving as it should or a wire is broken. Check to ensure it is clean and not damaged. For those who ride in the rain, it gets wet all the time. Water should no be causing issue unless it's damaged and full of water.

I want to get rid of the switch because I'm making it into a track bike. Can I just cut the wires to bypass the switch ?
