Rear turn signal lenses
I know that these were cheap and common to get years ago, then became pretty rare for a while there. They are popping back up on ebay now, and even the amber ones are around. Though it looks like the amber listing is from an estate sale, so they are probably limited quantity and are still not being manufactured.
For some reason the amber ones were the first to disappear, but the colored and tinted ones stayed around. The amber were probably the most popular. Tinted ones: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191035629514...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Clear ones: http://www.ebay.com/itm/350950039264...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Amber: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141188226936...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT |

Awesome! Thanks for posting this. I had been searching for amber lenses a while ago and found none.
Now I can pawn my clear ones off on somebody else rather than paint them, or whatever annoying thing I'd have had to do. |

This guy used some amber model tint on his proton turn signals (which are absolutely awesome signals btw):
http://www.speedysgarage.net/hondacb...lushmounts.htm Seems like you could do the same to something like the clear lenses. I had actually considered it for a while. The listings for the clear ones have been up for a long time. Its funny that they show a picture of the amber ones, but the listing title says clear (as does the part number when you google it). |

Great links, thanks for sharing. I bought a set of the tinted. SC doesn't even require turn signals so it won't be an issue if I move them to the rear.

I got the tinted and amber ones in the mail the other day. Both look like good quality. The amber ones were in a retail package, and the tinted ones were just in a bag. They both had the same sticker on the packaging, so I'm guessing they are probably all made in the same place.

Nice! I gave @papawhellie one of my smoke sets thinking that I'd just order more from D2moto.com for $6 and then they suddenly disappeared.

That kit had strange sockets and I wonder if it still does. It required bulbs with offset pins on the base (one pin higher than the other) like the dual-filament 1157 bulbs but only had contacts for a single filament. I got replacement pigtails with dual contacts to convert the base from BAY15S to BA15D for dual-filament bulbs. |

When I put mine in I didn't have to use their sockets because I had already put my turn signals into the side pods with the red lenses. I just took apart the OEM turn signal housings and used the bulbs and sockets from those with some silicone to seal and hold everything. Doesn't look pretty from the inside, but nobody will see that.

I installed the lenses. They look great. I have the bulbs but have not tried to do anything further yet. After looking at these pics and reading comments about rain going up your back when riding in inclement weather I believe I will keep the rear fender and eliminate only the turn signal stalks. I need to find a way to fill the holes from the factory turn signals.

Hi, I'm new here but I found this post looking for new tail lights. I love my bike, it's a 2005 pregen in black and green. Already eliminated the rear fender, now I want new tail lights. Only thing is all I can find anywhere are the side pods. Anyone seen any clear or smoked center brake lenses?

I have bulbs that are 1156LL. These are not the right OD and are not the staggered pins. Can someone tell me what bulb would work in the supplied pig tails?
Thanks. |

When I purchased this kit I went out and bought new sockets from autozone as I did not want to chase down a buld that would fit. The new sockets allowed me to use the bulb I already had. It was a 5-10$ purchase for the new sockets.

What about the lenses? It's easy to find clear/smoked turn signal lenses but not the main brake light lense... Any suggestions?

I am not sure but I found mine on ebay. I have the amber lenses and actually looking to sell them as I do not need them anymore. I am not sure about finding a different center light. You will just need to look and wait.

Very simple to install, remove old lenses, wire in sockets and use a silicon to hold the sockets in place, add light bulbs, add new covers and test them.

The side lens itself is a single screw. Very simple.

You'd need a bulb for a BAY15S socket but they practically don't exist. You can change the socket to a BA15D for a standard 1156 dual-filament bulb with a simple pigtail kit (replaces wafer on the bottom with one that has two contacts). I ordered some from eBay for dirt cheap and probably have extra if you want some. I saw them on Autozone's website too.

(From http://www.donsbulbs.com/cgi-bin/r/t...cket.base.html) 1156 bulbs are BA15S (single filament, aligned pins). 1157 bulbs are BAY15D (dual filament, offset pins).

I have done the modification but finally went with clear lens, as it went better with SERENITY color scheme.
I did use 80w amber CREE LEDs, which are bright, even in direct sunlight, which some lesser LEDs have issues. I also used the same type or CREE LEDs but in 1157 for the brake light.

Then you need to find ones from the other model, I did a search on eBay and came up with nothing.
If you have a motorcycle salvage yard around, you could try them maybe, or order from Kawasaki.

I read somewhere that the pod lenses in the fairing are just amber lenses that were painted over at the factory. I saw a write up somewhere where someone stripped the paint off to get the amber lens.
The socket is still in the tail, right? |

No socket, will need to be punched out and one installed plus wiring. Not a big deal but new lenses are elusive! Worried about removing paint on original and having a mess with the plastic.

I think the ZZR600 uses the same brake light, so maybe it also uses the same turn signal amber lens.
Go to the dealership, they might be able to order the amber ones, and sockets.

I've always liked the looks, and design of the ZZR250, to bad it was never offered in the states.
It was good enough for the bride.

One tip that might work for buffing polishing is one that I watched for restoring headlights. Wet sand to clean up, then hit with a UV proof clear paint to protect them. |
