Air Filter Oil, What do you guys use?
So, I did a search in the tech forum for pre-gens and it seems to literally just list any thread with the words filter and oil. I searched through 5 and just figured I'd post here.
What filter oil do you guys traditionally use for the air filter. Looked at K&N and UNI on Amazon. UNI seems pricey for a smaller can than the K&N oil. Was also going to purchase a UNI filter for 12 bucks, current filter looks like it could be replaced, but not horrible. Thanks for your responses. |

For foam filters (ie stock), use a foam filter oil like UNI or PJ1.
For a BMC or K&N filter, use K&N oil.

I am pretty much K&N all the way most of the time for filters. I use Shell Rotella T6 from wal-mart.

I use whatever engine oil I have handy, which is almost always some Rotella T6.

We like the UNI oil on our UNI filters.
Air filter oil is different from regular engine oil. It is much more tacky and "strings" when you touch it. Just make sure you don't use too much. |

For foam filters I use belray foam filter oil, for K&N style filters I use k&n oil. I also try to use twin air filters whenever possible, but I also use Uni pods or whatever is available. Not sure why I bought a K&N for the ninja instead of two 6".

The stock foam filter should use engine oil, same as 99% of dirt bikes that have foam filters. K&N type filters should use a thinner filter oil, like K&N's own brand or any othe cotton gauze filter oil.

The ninja foam filter would probbably be fine with engine oil, how ever you should never use engine oil on a dirtbikes air filter. Dirtbikes are in a much more extreme environment, and they use a much thicker stickier oil.

Foam air filter oils. Have to purchase it online? Or would the local Walmart, Autozone, Advanced Auto type have them in stock?
